Jyang
hi, i'm new and I really like the Shift Linux project and would like to help you if you let me. I read that someone wanted a ppc versione for the cell cpu, well you can use an emulator to compile a ppc versione but I don't think there are some cycle- and behavior-accurate emulators so you would really need a ppc machine. I suggest to make a donation button to buy a ppc machine that doesn't cost so much like around 200$. I can also help with programming but at the moment my c, c++ and python knowledge is rusty and now I don't have the time to relearn them because I'm a economics student and have some important exams. As soon as I have some free time I'll join if you want. I would like to know who are the main developers and their roles so I can make a clear idea about the project. Thanks. Barney T. Administrators Posted March 20, 2008 Administrators Share Posted March 20, 2008 Our staff is busy with the three versions now, so adding another at this point is not what we need to concentrate on (at this point). I do appreciate your offer, however. Please feel free to browse the Shift Linux subforum and add comments / suggestions. We are always looking for new ideas and contributors. Jyang
The ppc version was only a suggestion as for the system running it'd also need special drivers for the ps3 architecture and I don't have the necessary knowledge to write them and there are excellent distros that work fine on ps3. I can also help with i386/i686 versions: compile stuff, write tutorials, helping new users(i hate the word newbies). I also made some Linux distros for fun and because I needed personalized lightweight systems for some projects, so I understand the system quite well. ;)
