crazzyyfool
Well do you notice any difference with it on or off? May just be down to personal choice.
Ricardo Gil
Noise reduction should only be used with analog signals, keep it off while on the PS3.
Alfista
well guys there is a difference but i can not figure it out at all. i really can not find which one is for my liking but i admit at mpeg nr ps3 looks a bit weird now that i check it again... also what are analog signals... since ps3 is connected via HDMı its not analog but if i connect my satellite through scart than i should use it? I was fine with my TV settings but a friend of mine told me his Sony's HDMI quality and PS3 experience was way way beetter than my panasonic.. now i can see sony might be better than panasonic but how can there be really great difference? thats why i was wondering if i was doing something wrong at my TV setup. Analog signals get modified by noise (other signals, electricity, etc.) between the source and destination, digital signals on the other hand don't. Well, they do, but since there are only two levels in digital signals, the signal doesn't get corrupted so easily. Anyway, consider HDMI signal as perfect between source and destination. SCART is analog, and gets it's signal easily corrupted by noise, so NR should give some picture improvement.
Coldgunner
he's probably using an LCD tv, which IMO is better for gaming. plasma does not have the same amount of pixels as lcd.

HD gaming of course. Plasma for SD TV viewing/TV viewing in general. LCD for gaming. Due to the fact in money terms, a PROPER 1080p LCD will cost less than a PROPER 1080p Plasma. By proper, I mean a TV that actually outputs in the pixel equivalent of 1080p. Many plasmas ACCEPT 1080p, but they actually "downscale" to their internal resolution - Doesn't mean your picture quality is bad though, on SD broadcasts, it actually means your picture looks better! Right now, if you're going to be doing a lot of HD gaming/HD content viewing, I'd recommend an LCD TV. As your main household TV, if everyone is going to be watching a lot of SDTV, you might factor that in, and get a Plasma. LCD in no way look "horrible" or anything with SD TV broadcasts, plasmas just generally look better.

So its used for Tv and PS3... But soon i will get a tv to my room and i believe after your recommendation i might go for LCD. i was just surfing the ned and found out that Plasmas have burn in problems and come to think of it when i start Fifa 2008 sometimes game logos stay there (like a ghost image) even when the screen goes dark to install the next coming logo or start of the game. However than the image wears off itself... I hope this plasma tv of mine is a good one so it doesnt wear off on me in a year or two. it really creaps me out. Anyone here had a burn in problem with plasmas? i play my PS3 in the dynamic mode and also would it lead to faster plasma failure? the cinema and normal mode doesnt make me happy at color quality. Anyone here had a burn in problem with plasmas? Burn in is really a thing of the past. Most modern Plasmas really shouldn't suffer from any issues relating to burn in. As for your bedroom TV, yeah I'd get an LCD (Y) Not only will it be cheaper if you're aiming for 1080p, it will just be overall better for gaming. sn00pie
Yep. LCD + PS3 is the way to go, I wish my setup was in my bedroom. :D
EnzoFX
I'd say a 1080p plasma would be better, and I thought they were slightly cheaper to a 1080p lcd.....

Most true 1080p plasmas are not cheaper than true 1080p LCDs. A lot of 40-46" plasmas run on resolutions of 1024 x 720 and 1366 x 768, but they accept 1080p signals. That is, a lot of 40-46" Plasmas in the price bracket of their equivalent LCD TV which runs at a higher resolution. LCDs are just better for gaming just now! EnzoFX
I was pretty sure I've seen 50' plasmas, 1080p for under $2k here in the states. I'm well aware of those smaller ones that only support the res, but instead downscale. Furthermore, 1080p lcd's in smaller sizes actually, 40'ish for about the same price. But looking around again, a comparable sized lcd is just a bit cheaper. Still, I'd go with the plasma for better color.
