More circumstantial evidence that an FF7 remake is en route to the PS3

If a Final Fantasy VII remake came out on the same day as FFXIII, which would you buy?

If you haven't read our Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core interview yet, you should. A very interesting response came to one of our questions, which alludes to a possible remake of Final Fantasy VII, since no other games have been announced, even though all of the original 'Compilation of Final Fantasy VII' titles announced years back (Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, Before Crisis) have now come out. The quote in question goes as follows.

1UP: Does Crisis Core mark the finale for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series?

Hajime Tabata: No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form.

Cue the usual horde of people saying they'd buy a PS3 for FF7, even if it means "selling out", "going to the darkside" or "going Blu".

Cue the usual increase in hope and frothing from the mouth.

Cue the usual mass excitement surrounding the next gaming event Square attend, and even cue some rumours about FF7 100% DEFINITELY UNDISPUTEDLY making an appearence as confirmed by an event "insider".

Cue the usual 3% of the population who say FF7 is overrated and sucks.

Cue disappointment in two weeks time when Square "deny" a remake, or say they're too busy with other projects. Instead they'll treat us to a new FF13 trailer that contains 3 MORE SECONDS!!!111 of footage from the last one.

Well, I've always kept my hopes up ;)

Would be a no brainer to ship PS3s, and in terms of logic, it makes sense to go to FF7 after Crisis Core, seeing as it ends where FF7 starts.

No doubt, the "finale" to the FF7 series will be a mobile phone game only released in Japan though - Go out with a bang eh?

If a Final Fantasy VII remake came out on the same day as FFXIII, which would you buy?

As for that question, I'd no doubt be on holiday when they both came out, then on my way home the plane would crash land in the sea and strand me on an Island where weird and wonderful things happen.... oh wait, sorry, I better go watch episode 8 of Lost (Y)

If a remake came out at the same time as FF13, I would happily buy both, and versus.

But that is, in my head, one of the reasons if a Remake is going to happen it hasn't been shown or talked about in any capacity, because FF13 is what they are showing off, and if a remake was shown, it would steal its thunder quite honestly.

We all know a FF7 remake would sell like tea cakes (do tea really sell that well these days? :s)

And I have to agree, if the possibility of them both coming out happened, well, I'm sure just before hand the world would be taken over by robots or something really annoying. :p

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I have no doubt in my mind we will see a Final Fantasy VII remake. They know a number of fans want to see a remake and lots of people have heard about Final Fantasy VII but never played it. Of course they want to make it and sell lots of copies. When is a whole other story.

When Square Enix decides to make a remake they will want it done right. Right now they don't have the people free do get it done right, there all working on other games. Once some of the games are done then there is a chance they might start working on it. But really they will need 2 or maybe even 3 years time to do it as best as possible.

I truly think we will see a FFVII remake within the next 8 years. Also IMO I'd rather it come out in 2012 and be a PS4 launch title then come out in 2010 and be a PS3 game.

Well, I've got the PS3 now... WHERE'S MY REMAKE?!

Haha just playing, but I'd definitely buy it the first minute I could get my hands on it.

Do not tease me.

Agreed!

But if there is going to be a remake (I think there is), then we won't see it for atleast 2 years, probably more like 4.

After being introduced into the turn-based RPGs thanks to Dragon Quest 8 on the PS2, I'd really love to get my hands on a remake of Final Fantasy 7 for the PS3. I'd buy it without a shadow of a doubt - I'm quite fond of "traditional" RPGs now (after not liking them for ages).

If they make a FVII Remake I don't think they will release it the same day as FFXIII but if they do I'll get both games. :D
