+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted March 30, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Here's a video showing everyone some online play, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: BMW 135i Coupe - online race Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Online race at Suzuka. After the chaos on the first half of the lap I managed to get up to 2nd position. I would have liked to try and pass the race leader properly on the final lap, unfortunately the player braked a bit too late at the final chicane so I managed to snatch pole.BMW 135i ('07) Suzuka Circuit Physics: Proffesional TCS & ASM: OFF Tires: N2 Wheel: Logitech G25 It's actually a good watch, good neck and neck battle (Y) at when the guy in front forgets how tight one of the corners is, and flies off the track! Xerxes
I think it is fantastic, flawed but fantastic! I agree the install process did take way too long and personally I shifted to consoles to get away from that nonsense, so can't say I was at all happy about it. Still they could of at least done it how Oblivion did it, to ease the pain surely? (i.e. run off the disk to begin with and install the files in the background while you play), then there are the framerate issues which I notice appear now and then which is slightly annoying and don't get me started on the dodgy shadows :p Plus the online experience is appalling! you run smooth and everyone else is jittering all over the place. Does this mean I wish I didn't waste my money on GT5P and probably won't get GT5? not in the slightest! despite it's obvious flaws I love this game (for some reason I felt a bit like Jeremy Clarkson saying that bit, you know when he talks about all the car's flaws, but in the end he likes it :p), spend the better part of the weekend behind my Logitech steering wheel with my eyes glued to the screen (which was running at 1080p) and I loved every second of it!! sure this game is flawed but they have (in my opinion) got the experience pretty well sorted  perhaps I'm the only one, but I say bring on GT5 :D This is purely my opinion so take with a grain of salt. (Y) I'm downloading it just now, im going to get my good digi cam out, not the one I normally use, and take a ton of snaps of my display in 1080p for everyone to see! Does anyone else want some snaps?
Sethos
The only thing ruining my Grand Turismo is that god-awful PS3 Controller, horrible piece of plastic. But as soon as i get my hands on a some money I'm thinking of investing in a G25.
Sam
Personally I'm happy with Prologue, it was ?20 well spent for me. As has been said before, there are quite a few "racing" games that sell for ?40 that don't meet the same standard as Prologue. Can't comment on the online play yet tho, I've been more focused on the events (As well as having S,A,B,C classes, Prologue still have manufacturer events for specific cars). Aside from wheels of course - I really don't think it's that bad. I've been so well adapated to playing any GT game on the controller design that it's almost second nature. Use the SIXAXIS to steer... anybody? :shiftyninja:

I'm just screwing about with my new wired setup on my PC (speak about it in PS3 HD topic), and copying some movies to my PS3s hard drive just now. Ricardo Gil
Have you guys noticed the complete lack of AI in this game? The cars just follow the optimal route, and simply don't care if you are on that route also or not. If you happen to be in their way they'll just run into you instead of braking or even going around you. What scares me is that they said the AI had been improved from earlier versions. Riiiight. Aside from the car models being really good, the overall experience with this game has been pretty disapointing.

Yeah but then you get the strange occasions when they go wide and into the grass/sand on tracks. Without any other cars around.... Turn it off from the back, and restart? :p I just pressed down the PS3button and quit the game - I'm sure I read somewhere that incomplete actions or unexpected shutdowns can cause the Yellow Light of Doom on a PS3 :(

samg
I agree with the collision problem. I've done maybe/watched 10+ races and all of them see you being able to drive full pelt into a car, no penalty. If someone touches you, YOU get the penalty! I'm also fairly disappointed with it. At a cost of ?25, its totally crap. Only a few cars, and 5 (10 inc mirrored) tracks to play 2 player. Also, not being able to tune is frustrating. I tried the MINI race and my car wouldn?t keep up with them from the start. I've found previously, the only way to keep up/pass when doing a race against the same cars is to modify it a bit. crazzyyfool
I wouldn't call 70+ cars a few. There could be a few more tracks though. I thought to be able to use Tuning you had to complete all Classes to unlock the Tuning option. At least that what it says in the online manual. Well you can tune the cars, but (as I discovered) you gotta clock Prologue first (to unlock Quick Tune). I agree with you on the cars and tracks, they are a little sparse (tracks mainly). However, don't forget this game has only gotta last you to till next year, then you'll have GT5 and won't be playing Prologue any more. It was only ever meant as a stop gap (and quickly cash in) for the fans who can't wait any longer. Modifying the car is one way, I've also discovered in Prologue if you keep dead on the racing line and floor it, along with slipstreaming whenever possible you'll soon catch up to those impossible to keep up with lead cars. The "penalty problem" has been in GT for as long as I can remember and it's annoying as hell! but you get used to it (although I'd rather they fixed it...). I think the best way of looking at it [GT5P] is, don't think of it as a game because it isn't and you will be disappointed. Think of it as an appetiser, a small taste of what's to come and also remember it was never meant to last as long as a full blown game, it's only a space filler...then I think you'll possibly appreciate it more (cause I do anyway:pp)
Venomous
I love the Game Been Playing hours now and it's seriously good fun the challenging races are awesome. I never really liked the way cars handled in GT but something feels different in this one especially with cockpit view and the engine sounds that are sounding like real cars. The Wheel squeeling can be a bit excessive but you soon ignore it. The Ford GT is a beast for Drifting those corners

Xerxes
Can you explain "click Prolouge first"? You need to complete the A, B and C classes (I think you need a minimum of Bronze medals) in "Events" to unlock Quick Tune. I probally should of just said that to begin with :p but it was late and I couldn't be bothered  Finish Class C-A, afaik. Then you unlock S Class, along with the tuning options. insomniac9
After all the positive reviews in this forum I decided to get GT Prologue and have to say that it's as good as you said it is so far, mind you i've only just installed the game and currently waiting for the update to finish downloading. I'm already p*****d off with it, it's taking ages to download and I hate the fact that you have to install the game in the 1st place, if I wanted to install games then I would buy more for the pc. I'm disappointed that developers for the ps3 are using the hard drive space, good job there's not a lot of content on the online store otherwise I might not have had enough room to install it. ok rant over, looking forward to finally playing it.
