Kushan
Right, lets see if we can possibly settle this: US, March 31, 2008 - On March 28 we created a poll on IGN.com asking readers the following question: "If you're buying GTA IV, which platform version will you purchase?" Surprisingly the Xbox 360 version beat out the PlayStation 3, despite the fact that the series was popularized on previous Sony consoles where past iterations have sold tens of millions of copies. Here's how the voting breaks down: If you're buying GTA IV, which platform version will you purchase? # PS3: 36% # Xbox 360: 64% # Total Number of Votes: More than 18,000 Source: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/863/863411p1.html Now I know that an online poll isn't exactly "hard evidence" of anything, but it can give us a pretty reasonable idea of what to expect. And 18,000 votes is a pretty good turnout.

Why is that a surprising result? :s There are more X360s sold so obviously there the percentage will be alot higher on that one Havent read this whole thread but was anyone saying the PS3 version would sell more??
Kushan
I never said it was surprising? Some people are still trying to say that brand loyalty for the PS3 will increase sales more than the 360, I disagree with this and the poll shows what I've been saying all along - 360 will sell slightly more than PS3. FiB3R
it was in the article. "Surprisingly the Xbox 360 version beat out the PlayStation 3, despite the fact that the series was popularized on previous Sony consoles where past iterations have sold tens of millions of copies." And yeah, that poll is pointless.
troist
The thing is, we know almost nothing about the exclusive DLC the 360 is getting. While we've been told it'll be something substantial, we really don't have any details at all. More missions? More Multiplayer modes? Or maybe just more character models and cars? The point is, you can't exactly market "we'll get something really good down the line, we just don't know what it is yet". Its going to be new missions I think, but theres not much out about how long they'll be and if they add extra content to the game as well (like Shivering Isles did for Oblivion). Kushan
Ho hum. Makes no difference to me. I am getting it on my PS3, and I will enjoy it And I'm genuinely glad for you (not being sarcastic, either). I have a 360, so I'll be getting it for the 360. If I had a PS3, I'd be getting it for the PS3. That's exactly what my point was about most people's minds being made up already - because their choice lies with what console they got, not which console they want the game on. Neo003
I have both PS3 and 360, but I feel more comfortable with 360. I never played GTA title on PS only on PC, The game is same on both system it's just who's going to buy and what they will feel more comfortable with. I am seeing a problem coming in the future, for the people who are going to buy consoles. Since both consoles are alike, you will be struggling to pick which one. Since both offer same quality same gameplay same live experience. Question remains what make them distinguish.
soniqstylz
Question remains what make them distinguish. Exclusives, and things like DLC. Also, if you're like me and have been a PS gamer for over 10 years, you'll prolly get this (and other games) on PS3 until there's a glaring reason not to. But if you switched to Xbox or Xbox 360 (or never played on a PS to begin with), no reason to stop now.

I don't see that as a problem at all. In fact, I think it's quite the opposite because it means that no matter which console you buy, you win.
