Shift Linux IRC Meeting April 19th

Recommended Posts

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help get Shift Linux back up and running. I want to give everyone ample opportunity to know when we would hold our re-organization meeting so that you can plan for it.

Let's plan on Saturday, the 19th of April at 12 noon EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) on our IRC channel: #shiftlinux

You can get info on how to log in to Neowin's IRC here: http://irc.neowin.net/

So far we have these members asking to help:

Commodore Max

James7

Cosmin

Mark Jensen

Jason Amison

xOr

Jyang

Kitch

bmaher

Simon360

Brian

So, as you can see, we have a group of willing and talented members to lend a hand. If there are others who wish to assist, please let me know.

At our meeting, we will set up goals, tasks, and some milestones. As always, we will stay a community effort and no "one person" will dominate over another. I, as manager of this project, will set only some broad goals and responsibilities so we stay focused.

Please read the Shift One tasks that were laid out here: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=616416

Also, if you haven't done so already, please read how we created Shift here: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=616205

And what the wishes that people want us to add into Shift One: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...t=0&start=0

I will add to this post as I talk with all of you. Thanks for sharing your time and talents! :)

As usual for me, as a father of four boys very active in sports and such, I will most likely not be available (baseball season).

But I am keenly interested in helping out with Flux.

Is any X86_64 Shift Linux Variant planned sometime for you folks? I know in reality the demand might not be there but I'm just curious for myself.

PS. Found the shift key and set it to draw fire on my compiz-config console and ALSO to remove fire. Comiz-config is pretty out there feature wise, we need more apps lol! Was using arch linux (?building kernels?).

PPS. Feel free to reply some time after your session +/+ this forum thread hehe).

Remember, we cannot add everything -- we have to stick to the GPL.

Once the meeting is over, and the goals, tasks, ect. have been discussed, that's when we can start taking your ideas.

Regards Jason :)

Remember to post meeting log :)

I'm outta here to take kids to baseball. I'll catch up later, but I can help the team with the flux part (not so much on Gnome/KDE/XFCE).

Back from baseball games. I read the log, and am ready to get going on getting these flux changes into the next release of Lite. (Y)

Guys, I'm so sorry that I missed the meeting. I had some major problems with my network and I've only just managed to fix them. Also I installed 8.04 RC and had some major issues with my wireless card. So I spent hours trying to configure that but I got no where, so I came back to Gutsy. Anyway, I've read the logs for the meeting and I'd prefer to work on Gnome, but if we can't find many people that want to work on KDE then I'd gladly help in that dept. and the same with applications.
