roadgeek9
I have installed Fedora 7 on my desktop. When I try to open a terminal (I guess the default is Gnome Terminal) and use yum, the entire system locks up. I can't move the mouse, and can't use the keyboard to either restart X or go straight to text mode (CTRL-ALT-F1, CTRL-ALT-F2, etc). I read online that this might be connected to a bug in the "nv" driver. I have a GeForce4 MX440. Is this the case? If so, what can I do? If not, what is the problem. In the other thread you had I did mentioned something about newer nVidia drivers not being fully compatible anymore with cards as old as yours. Well now I am going to try an older release of SuSE (10.1).

markwolfe Veteran Posted March 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 30, 2008 No need to try older versions. You can use a current Linux, and just the older "legacy" nVidia proprietary driver.
