funkyjunky
I'm running Ubuntu 7.10. I play this game called Runescape. Some of you may know it, and some may not. Anyways, it's a java based game. Well, it's not loading on my computer and I don't know why. It's either a problem with the java or where it saves the game data. Help?
markwolfe Veteran Posted March 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 30, 2008 Runescape works fine. Do you have the Java plugin installed and recognized by Firefox? Type about:plugins into your address bar, and see if you get this: How did you install the plugin? It should prompt when you view a page that requires it, then install without issue. At least mine did.

markwolfe Veteran Posted March 31, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2008 Yuck! Remove it! That is the GNU Java implementation. It is still in beta, according to their freshmeat page I'll bet the Sun one will work fine. Does for me.
funkyjunky
How do I remove it?
markwolfe Veteran Posted March 31, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) If it appears in your synaptic package manager, you can remove it from there. If not, just remove the file, and that should do it. EDIT: If the file is in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/, you will need a sudo preface to use your root powers, like sudo rm /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/gcjwebplugin.so Then next time you visit a page with a java plugin, you should be prompted again. Choose Sun Java 6, or whatever current Sun version is offered. Edited March 31, 2008 by markjensen
