Recommended Posts

hello!

i'm running ubuntu 7.10 (w/ the default vnc server) and ultravnc to connect to it

both pc's are connected in lan. this is my 2nd or so attempt with vnc -- how do i get it to run as fast as it can?

the menu's open fine, but resizing/moving windows is jerky etcetc

VNC is pretty bad when it comes to latency. Have you decreased the graphics settings on your remote workstation?

wow dude, i didn't see you reply

well it's not that bad anymore -- turned out i had the hd plugged in the wrong ide hole, so the whole system was slow.

but i couldn't know it, cause that pc's sitting in the wardrobe without display or keyboard.

i need this so i could shut down other computers at night -- great way to save electricity :)

also, disabling menu icons, font smoothing and other stuff like that helped to gain more speed too.

now it feels like a normal single core pc, just under some load.
