Does anyone know of any response by the firefox team to Acid 3?

What response are you looking for?

Firefox 3.0 will not fully pass acid3.

Since its too far in development to add the remaining support.

That doesn't mean a 3.1 can't come out in a few months with complete support though.

They should just call them nightly builds and be done with it, enough with the pre-alpha-beta-pre-RC almost beta but not quite yet stuff.

This crashes all the time for me :/

Going back to beta 4 I think.

probably your addon's causing the problems.

not many support the beta builds of firefox.

Was there a pre-alpha of beta 2 for 3.0b6pre RC3?

This is getting bizarre...:p

No, none of that. I'm not sure if you're just joking, but since you think this is bizarre, you perhaps just don't understand it -- it's actually simple.

There is no "beta 6". There are also no "pre-alphas" for milestone releases.

There are the nightly builds on the trunk, and the milestone builds (labelled "alpha 3", "beta 1", "RC", etc). There can be prereleases of the milestone builds, and then you usually just prefix the milestone with "pre-". Milestone builds are those that are released.

Example of possible builds would be: Fx 3 pre-beta 5 that is a pre-release of Fx 3 beta 5. There is no concept such as "Fx 3 pre-alpha beta 5" at all. The only time you get a "pre-alpha" would be if it would lead up to an alpha that is actually released. For example, Fx 3 pre-alpha 1 would be possible and in that case the pre-release of Fx 3 alpha 1. That release was made a pretty long time ago by now. If one speaks of a "pre-alpha of a beta" (???), then you probably just mean a pre-beta build.

Right before milestones are released, they can go through a few release candidate stages, so you might get Fx 3 beta 5 RC2, for example. However, in the build tag, that will still just show up as Fx 3 pre-beta 5, which is an equally correct naming, as a RC is still a prerelease version of the final one.

I'm using the nightly tester tools, so yeah, could be addons.

But everything worked on beta 4.

I doubt having a a year long (or longer) development cycle without any milestones is actually a good idea.

Maybe you just don't have a firm grasp of their naming scheme?

BTW Elite, linking to the main Mozilla server makes baby Jesus cry.

Anyone looking for a beta5 build who can't wait for the page to update should go to that page and replace your DL link's b4 with b5 for example this is the tlink you should use for en-us win builds:

http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0b5&os=win〈=en-US

...that way server load can be distributed among mozilla's mirrors.

I've been using the beta for nearly a week now (I think I installed it on friday, or at least it was a pre-beta, I'm not sure, don't really care because I just wanted to use FF3 as FF2 was giving me trouble) and I never even noticed the auto hide in fullscreen. It's AWESOME!

As for the second change, I'm definitely all for that, although I modified my userchrome thingy to stop sites from messing with the browser too much anyway.

Tab bars in Beta 5 look so much better.

Yeah any vista users should appreciate this change :

Now they just need to fix the ugly address bar (the favicon holder/ search engine icon) Put a door on the house icon, and fix the hideous blue blob of a go button and it'll look pretty good imo.

The interface is improved a bit and I preferred it when the bookmark folders opened and closed. The only thing I've noticed is that Adblock Plus isn't working all the time for some reason.
