Had the 60GB, sold it b/c I don't need BC. Opting for 40GB.

Recommended Posts

I had the 60GB and sold it for a good price a few months ago. I resisted the temptation to buy a PS3 thereafter trying to hold off till the Dual Shock 3 is released or a new SKU. I realized I didn't need backwards compatibility. If I get the 40GB, will I be missing any additional features besides the bc, additional usb ports or SD slot readers? <- I don't need any of those features anyhow.

Come April 15th, I will be buying a new 40GB PS3. Can it come any sooner?! :D

Exactly what I done!

All you miss is two usb ports (you still have two left), and the card reader. Also 20GB less to start with obv.

What do you gain? Quieter/cooler PS3 supposedly (Y)

My brother has my PS2 along with a 40GB PS3 so I kinda need a 60GB if I ever want to replay some of the PS2 games I've got.

The 80GB plays PS2 games almost on par with the 60GB, they have been updating it a lot in recent firmware updates but not really making a huge deal about it.

I can remember this time last year paying ?425 for my 60gb EU version, which only came with X3 on BD.

don't seem quite so bad now...

I got my 60gb from Chips in the UK, ?260. It has a couple of scratches on the top but I'm not bothered with that; I don't look at the console, I look at my monitor screen:pp I like the DMC and GoW series, and really wanted to be able to play them on the PS3, so the back-compat was important to me, but if you don't mind about it, it's a fair saving.

I only got my 60gb at ?260 cos I reserved a 40gb which they dropped, and didn't have any more in stock, so offered me the 60 at the same pric:p:p

Yeah man, my older bro got his on launch day for ?360 (student discount ftw) and now they no longer do backward compatibilit:(:(

I'd happily pay an extra ?100 if it meant getting it ba:p :p

Think it's worth selling my 60GB for a 40GB model? I've been debating it but I'm not sure if I want to......I don't need the BC/extra USB/SACD/etc....so...should I?

I sold my 60GB for ?500.

It did come with some extra stuff/games, but you'll still fetch a decent profit over what a 40Gb will cost you.

You can get a BN 40GB for ?259.99 with free next day delivery. Your 60GB should reach ?300+ easily if ebay is still as rampant as it was when I sold mine.

I'd probably sell it with the controller and Lost (because it's an absolutly crap game).....I'd want to get more then ?350 for it though, since that's what I paid.

Used PS3 prices just now...

I'd say ?350+ isn't far fetched with Lost.

Might not be too far over that, but you can't exactly complain about getting what you paid for it, and it's now 2nd hand:pp

Luckily, even although Lost is mince, lot's of casuals know the name Lost, and might want it regardless.
