Website design using default templates?

Question

I'm having a bit of a struggle with my boss over the design of our companies 2 websites. I keep wanting to use either Dreamweaver, GoLive or Frontpage but he insists on using the templates provided to him with Net Fusion because it's easy for him to use.

My main gripe is the fact that we are a technology company that advertises website design and he is using templates from a, in my opinion, sub-par web design program.

Take a look at these 2 sites then give me some honest opinions - taking into mind that we are a technology firm and advertise website design... These are our 2 sites.

Website #1

Website #2

On website #1 both store fronts are designed seperatly from the rest of the site so don't bother with those.

Thanks to all who look and give an opinion.

Well, tell your boss that the templates he is using are 4 years old in the web design world. Tell him that they are not up to date. They are not professional or business like looking. Tell him if you offer professional web design, that you should have a professional web site yourself, and not use someone's templates which look like, well crap basically.

If you want professional looking sites go to www.coolhomepages.com. There's a lot of business sites there so just show him the ones you think apply to your business the most and tell him that you will have to compete against companies that can provide that kind of design..

Hope it helps you out a bit. Good luck
