Tiger.Girl
Is there a difference, or two different types of cable, between DVI to HDMI and HDMI to DVI cable? I got a Sony KP-46WT510 hooked up with HDMI > DVI cable and cannot get picture. My TV manual says it can accommodate HDCP and is compliant with the EIA-861 standard. (I don't know if its relevant) Thanks!
soniqstylz
If you're getting no picture, it's because your video settings need to be set from whatever cable you were using, to HDMI. Try turning the PS3 completely off, or try to reset it. It should then recognize that you have an HDMI cable in, and will use that video output. Your cable is the right one, tho. I use the same thing.
[bear]
hold down the PS3's power button until it beeps twice, this will reset the display settings and try and detect them based on the current setup.
Tiger.Girl
Holding down power button until second beep doesn't work. I know the DVI port on my TV works because I use it with my cable box. I know the PS3 HDMI port works because I can connect it to another TV with a HDMI cord. Can I test the cable by hooking up the PS3 to my LCD PC monitor? sialivi
Maybe your cable is HDMI to DVI-I (analog) instead of HDMI to DVI-D (digital), though it's quite unlikely since I don't think I've ever seen those for sale anywhere
Tiger.Girl
Its DVI-D, no analog pins. [edit] Its DVI-D dual link should I use DVI-D single link instead? [/edit] Edited April 7, 2008 by Tiger.Girl
