Got the Dual Shock 3 for 35.95 today..

Recommended Posts

Well, I took a gamble today and well, got it for less than other stores and got my Dual Shock 3 from Wal-Mart, and tried out some of my most recent games that I play that are 100% supportive of the DS3.

You know, it really does change the experience of the gameplay. I was more into the game while I was playing because I could finally feel it.

A game that really felt good was Motorstorm. I've waited for this day. I actually was able to play some races and get 1st place. Could finally feel the ground and know when someone was hugging me or ramming me. Could feel it from either side I got hit too.

I think the Dual Shock 3 was and still is way overdue and I'm glad that the controller is actually out to the retail consumers instead of having to order from another country.

What are your guys opinions who have the DS3?

*** If you haven't done any research on the controller; It does include sixaxis also. Driving on Motorstorm with rumble and sixaxis is interesting.

Actually... COD4MW on the PS3 does not support Dual Shock 3, and IW have stated on their official blog that they would have to redo the whole game to add support for it. Alot of people are ****ed on the boards about it. I mean, the 360 version has great rumble, but I would venture to say maybe 6 to 9 months down the road... maybe rumble support, or maybe when they release a new mappack; maybe they might bring it.

You kinda contradicted yourself there. If they have to redo the game to add it in, then they won't be able to tack it on a map pack/patch. I think we are more likely going to see rumble in COD5 then in 4, but this is only what I think so what actually happens could be completely different ;)

I'm still waiting for the DS3 to release in Australia, got my name down for one. I have to admit I'm not happy with the price as I think it's a huge rip off (AUD$99.95 for a DS3 here, the rumble enabled 360 controller is only ~AUD$75.95, while still expensive I think you see me point anyway?) but oh well, I still want one :p

Why would they have to re-do it? If the 360 version has the rumble feature, can't they just port it over somehow? As opposed to figuring out when/where rumble will be in the game.

They were 49.92 a piece but I flipped a coin and it landed on what it would be for buying all four of them.

Time to get rid of my Sux-Asses controller. :p

I never understood why Sony didn't include rumble into it's standard console on launch

Now they advertise it like it's the hottest new thing in consoles lol.

It was impossible for them to include them, and seeing as they didn't know if they would win the lawsuit they had to try and convince people that rumble was not needed.

They won the lawsuit and have now released the pad (unless you are European!!)

No, they didn't win a lawsuit... They didn't want to pay royalties, so they just didn't include it. THEN they said they'd rather have motion sensing than rumble. But now they've reached some kind of agreement.

It went to court, Immersion sued Sony/MS for using the technology without paying properly for it. MS settled, Sony didn't. You're right, they didn't win the lawsuit, they just didn't lose it.

No, Sony settled the lawsuit as well.

Sony paid Immersion for the right to use rumble in their controllers.

And immersion developed the technology to make it work with motion-sensing.

Yep; Sure I got it at Wal-Mart. My wife was the first to notice the price. Because we were just about to head to Game Stop to pick it up, and we hit Wal-Mart first. I had sent one of my friends there too and he grabbed one as well. We went last night again, and they adjusted their price on the shelf and didn't have anymore.

Yep; didn't include it because of a lawsuit. But it's settled now from my understanding.

and; btw... the sixaxis is still in the controller if you guys didn't know that. - going to add this update to the first post. Rumble and Sixaxis in Motorstorm ='s interesting.

Heh, yeah. What's your point?

Anyways, I'm just glad that the PS3 finally got rumble.

No point. Just adding to the thought. *shrug*

I also just got the DualShock 3 controller (on this past Thursday) and think that it is absolutely great. The extra weight gives the controller a perfect feel; though, I must admit, I have alway felt that the DualShock design is the best in controllers.

I wanted to comment on the rumble feature: it seems to be better or improved in comparison to the PS2's DualShock 2 (or the Xbox 360's controller, for that matter). It is kinda hard to explain, but it is as if it has more variations of intensity.

BTW - I got mine from Walmart as well, but it carried a price tag of $49.96, same as the previous SIXAXIS controller (which is now officially gone from my Walmart).
