wellofsouls
The thread edit button is still there, but the post edit button is gone?
Lee G. Veteran Posted April 14, 2008 Veteran Share Posted April 14, 2008 You are allowed to edit the topic as much as you want if you start a thread. However, on Neowin if you make a regular post, the ability to edit your post will disappear in roughly 15 minutes. There is a five minute grace period where you can edit and nothing will be displayed; then after that for ten minutes you can edit, but when you do it will say 'Last edited by...'; and after that the ability to edit that post is gone. So there's nothing wrong, it's just that you cannot edit that post; you can only edit the first post in the thread.

Berserk87
just for the record. edit times should be increased.
Joel
just for the record.edit times should be increased. Why? I think it's at 30 minutes now. If you can't fix it in 30 minutes...
Shaymaa
30 minute is fair enough for editing the post that's what i think
Nicholas-c Veteran Posted April 17, 2008 Veteran Share Posted April 17, 2008 depends what you are editing, i have posted an image in digital camera place before, deleted it from flickr by mistake and had to get someone to change post for me. Sub can have unlimited edit maybe? :shiftyninja:
bobbytomorow
Just curious what the reason behind this is...how come we have a time limit for editing what we post?
Jimmy0
Just curious what the reason behind this is...how come we have a time limit for editing what we post? Because if you could always edit your posts, people would change them months after they posted them - thus screwing up the forum threads.
kernatch
just a thought, how about allowing unlimited edits for X minutes and after that you can still edit as long as there are no replies.
Joel
Because if you could always edit your posts, people would change them months after they posted them - thus screwing up the forum threads. Also because some people edit them to remove warn-worthy posts. ;)
bobbytomorow
hmmm I guess if I really wanted one of my posts edited\deleted I could ask a mod? Anyway, thanks for the replies :)
Steven
Also because some people edit them to remove warn-worthy posts. ;) You could make an history viewable by moderators! and this whole time issue with 'bad posters' could be solved thus not having to inconvience us with a 30min rush to OMG fix that post fast!. I've seen it done on slickdeals.net Anything you edit still can be seen as they give you a nice Revisions button on all of your posts after you edit them. I wonder to this day with neowin and all it's super coder monkeys have yet to do this. Stuff that isn't time sensitive is a bit of a pain with the current system Edited May 8, 2008 by Steven
