PS3 FW 2.30 is up

Nice article, didn't know you posted there, lol.

Heh yep i do...I'm one of the editors. Spread the word about the article...perhaps Digg it (because really I shouldn't be doing that sorta thing myself lol).

If it gets popular enough we'll have a lot more influence when we show it to Sony (or, hopefully, if they see it themselves)

Argh, WHY do we not have an auto-off feature on our controllers yet? ...

I swear to god it annoys me so much when my PS3 has been folding for say 12 hours, and my controller decides its a good idea to stay powered on for 12 hours as well.

Charging this thing all the time...

I still find this very odd. Mine and others have theirs turn off... yet others don't. Seems like a hit or miss. Hmm...

Love the new store! (Y)

Here is the link detailing all of the changes made (for North America anyways, but it should be the same for everyone). I wanted to point out one thing though:

Other new or revised features in version 2.30:

icn_video.gif Video

  • Blu-ray Disc playback now supports DTS-HD Master Audio? and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio? output.*
    * The PS3? system does not support playback of DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 for DVD-Video or DTS-ES Matrix for Blu-ray Discs.

What I don't understand is the part which says the PS3 "does not support playback of DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 for DVD-Video..." I can assureit doeses. My PS3 works absolutely flawlessly with any DVD of mine encoded with either DTS-ES Discete or DTS-ES Matrix 6.1-channel surround sound.

Now, I'm not sure whether the PS3 is decoding the signal and then sending it my receiver, of if the PS3 is sending the encoded signal to my receiver and letting it decode it. But either way, it does work. If it is just a matter of the PS3 not being able to decode DTS-ES itself, then Sony should word it that way, and not say that it "does not support playback."

Hi all,

As you will have noticed, the PS Store re-launched successfully today, and we'd like to thank you for your positive feedback.

We are aware that many of you have experienced delays whilst the PS Store's thumbnail icons are being downloaded. This is a temporary consequence of a new system implementation and high global traffic levels, and will be resolved within the next few days.

Thank you for your patience and continued support!

All the best,

Lestrade

I love the new PS Store design.

I like it also. Although it seems to be loading images really slowly. Hopefully it is just because of all the people looking at the store.
