Alfista
ok guys... I was very excited when i heard about the sixaxis feature of the ps3 controllers when they first came out... However i pretty much never used it or was not satisfied at all.. I played uncharted in some occasions using sixaxis.. Did not give anything extra to the gameplay Warhawk was almost fun flying with sixaxis but its way easier with directional pad and u have a great disadvantage if you use it with the sixaxis controlls... Burnout was also way harder to play rather than the directional stick. I thought controlling the car with the motion sensor would be somewhere between playing the game with directional stick and a logitech steering wheel.. But i still prefer the stick over the motion sensor... Resistance fall of men.. I used the motion sensor to shake of some bugs that attached me... Nahhh its ok... but still this is the only place you use that feature in that huge game. So where in the world do you guys use the motion sensor? will it be improved in the future or will it be an actually nice idea but a flop...? Cormier6083
These questions seem really biased twords the Sixaxis being a bad product. As 2/3 of the questions state that it needs improvement, with none in the middle.

Huleboeren
Its a nice feature - but I think the developers are implementing it wrong It shouldnt be used for steering vehicles/planes/whatever Anyone played The Warriors on the PS2? Rockstar Games used the analog sticks to do certain things Like unscrewing each screw in a car stereo by moving the analog circularly(?) I thought that was great
Alfista
nope... but for example sixaxis, the motion sensor function could be implemented in oblivion when lockpicking now u mentioned unscrewing screws... i hear that xbox is about to come with their newton controllers in the future... Sixaxis would not be able to compete with that and Wii controllers in anyway if the feature gets more attention.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted April 16, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted April 16, 2008 I dont use it.. It's pretty basic and therefore not practical. If theres an option to use R3 instead, I will use it.
Kraftman
I hate the SIXAXIS, and turn it off whenever possible. In other news, I also hate the whole principle behind the Wii's control scheme. tl;dr I don't like motion sensing.
vf-
Its a nice feature - but I think the developers are implementing it wrongIt shouldnt be used for steering vehicles/planes/whatever It would have been nice on F1 Championship Edition, but I always use the sticks. There's too much of a delay with F1 cars for this to be useful. It needs instantaneous reactions. Like a real steering wheel. I wish there was a Sixaxis that had extra paddles like in F1 for gear changing.

I was going to pick up a Wii but the games are not meant for me. and the graphics are really below ps3 and xbox360.... Also i dont know if its true but there is no HD 1080p support... anyway... but the taught of motion sensor controllers might be the future of console gaming... I wonder if playstation 4 would use the exact same design of controllers like the last 3 versions when it comes out.. I guess not and motion sensor technology would improve by that time to give us a better feel of controlling in the games. but so far.. sixaxis makes me miserable in both burnout and warhawk... Julius Caro
I think ratchet and clank has very nice motion-controlled mini games, and sometimes it was still difficult to get it done right. I suppose the problem with the sixaxis is that it only detects relative axial movement? instead of "absolute" movement like the wiimote, so to speak. troist
I'm not sure really... I definately would prefer the rumble over the six-axis, but some games like Flow are pretty awesome. I don't think thats because of six-axis though, it would just be great anyway.

Yeah Flow so far is the only game I'd say would work better with motion controls. That's because it's sensitive enough that you don't need to flail your arms, and it's a fairly relaxing game - When you tend to add motion controls to anything that's fast paced/twitchy or requires quick input, it can get quite hectic and frustrating... hence even on the Wii some people go back and use gamecube controllers for some games. Sixaxis is a gimmicky addon for most "hardcore" games, but I wouldn't go as far as saying I would prefer NOT to have it. I'd prefer to have it with rumble = DS3. Just incase something else like Flow comes along (excluding expansion packs/Flow 2 or whatever). Maybe Flower, the new game from the guys that made Flow will use motion well as well? Rookas
I don't like it at all. It's awkward, innacurate and totally trumps any immersion present in the gameplay. No, I'm not a fan and I really hate that Nintendo managed to screw up Playstation games. cod4 could use rumble... QFT, I have CoD on PS3 and 360, and the lack of rumble really has a negative effect on the PS3 version. If I'm firing a LMG I should feel it! +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted April 17, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted April 17, 2008 I'm a Wii owner, not a ps3 owner. With that in mind, I have only played PS3 round my mates. I found the motion control aspect of the sixaxis to be clunky at best. It seemed nowhere near as refined as the Wii's - but then again, maybe it's not meant to be. It all felt a bit "added on at a meeting" rather than "inherrant to the controller".

Of course the Wii mote has a better implementation of accelerometer technology then the sixaxis. It was designed with the console as a whole experience not as a last minute add-on. But I must say if you play Warhawk or even Uncharted on the PS3, those two game have a very good impementation of the sixaxis. Its optional to add these motion controls on the PS3. Its just depends on the developers of a game to implement it correctly. Thats one of the reasons it works really good in Warhawk and is horrible in Liar. Dc'1
I quite like it, but, its not very useful lol, would be better if it was used in more games though.
Matrix XII
I've used it a few times, but It's quite useless and haven't used it since. I'd say it's overrated, the DS3 is finally a decent controller for the PS3. The Sixaxis is wayyyy too light as well.
simmorya
The SiXaXiS is way too light. There is no weight at all and it feels cheap. The DualShock 3 is a much needed improvement but Im sick of the whole style of controller. Make us a next generation controller to go with our PS3's.
