Convince me to buy a PS3

Recommended Posts

not necessarily I was just reading a over at NeoGAF called "My Xbox 360 Died and I Lived to tell the story" Official Thread and people are reporting that the new falcon chip 360s are still breaking down :( A member even made a graph of all the 360s that are breaking in that topic.

I never said the hardware problems were completely gone but now they're down to normal, expected levels.

don't need to....the product should speak for itself. If ya don't like it...don't buy it! I have a PS3 connected to my Panasonic 50 inch plasma and I love it. I also have my XBox 360 connected to my other 42 inch plasma and it looks great also! So, save your $$$ and stick with the 360. Or, if ya got $$ to spare, get a PS3...

I personally prefer the 360.

Plus, you can't argue that the exclusive DLC (rumor is that it's going to be the size of Vice City added on top of Liberty City! Not sure on the city though)

Xbox Live is great. Plus, the spring dashboard update is coming soon, and I'm hoping there will be some awesome new features in it.

Hardware stability isn't too big of an issue really for me. I'm still on my launch machine and it works great.

Plus with the 360 you have the great Marketplace (video, games, etc).

Also, if you buy GTA IV and an Xbox 360 system at Best Buy they will give you a $50 gift card.

The OP wants to be convinced to buy a PS3 not a 360...besides I guarantee you that PS3 will get either the same DLC (timed exclusive) or its own exclusive DLC for GTAIV

The 40 GB PS3 is backwards compatible with PS1 games not PS2 games.

I never said the hardware problems were completely gone but now they're down to normal, expected levels.

I know. I never said you said they were completely gone.(just a miscommunication between the two posts :p No harm done (Y) ) I was just pointing out that according to the forum topic not all newer 360s are not breaking down.

Its rumored that the PS3 will also get some GTA DLC in the near future or get the 360s a while after its released on the 360. thats what I heard.

I have a 360, Wii, and a PS3 and I have to say this. The PS3 rocks in terms of its multimedia. Want HD movies? Got it. Want killer games? Got it. Want Music from PC's on the Network? Got it. I love my 360, but I love my PS3 more.

So Bluray is the only reason you love your PS3 more? The 360 shares all of those features (especially the killer games part).

If you're just getting it for GTA4, you would have to be out of your mind to get it on PS3. It's going to be way better on 360 because it will have extra content.

MS payed $50 million for the exclusive content. Don't hold your breath. For that much, you'd think they would have it in the contract that it's exclusive forever.

I have both consoles, and I'd buy the 360 before the PS3.

PS3 is fun, but doesn't have anywhere near as many good games, plus the hardware issues have gone down a lot recently with the 360.

There are many more reasons, posted in this thread lol

You'd be wrong on both.

Wrong. There are no plans for PS3 DLC at the moment. This was confirmed by a Rockstar employee at the recent media event in NYC.

Didn't see that one coming from a mile away.

The same could be said for half this board

And to be fair, I actually had a hard decision on my hands. My friends are split between 360 and PS3 so I enjoy it no matter what I buy it on.

Deciding factor though was my credit card expiring which made my gold account expire - I don't want to renew gold, therefore I can't play GTA4 online.

No multiplayer = Big loss for GTA4.

The 50million paid DLC will never come to PS3, MAYBE PC I'd hinder a guess at.

You'll have to pay for it though, won't be free.

As for PS3 having DLC, nothings confirmed. Unless you count the Home items/clothing/ect as DLC in it's own right :p

I bought a PS3 recently, purely as I wanted a blu ray player, and it was the most viable option thanks to be it being profile 2.0. I also have a 360. Having never been a fan of the whole PS series of consoles. I can admit to being a little apprehensive in my purchase. I bought the 40Gb GT:5 bundle and managed to get a decent deal on it. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the media features of the machine, the DVD upscaler for example is very good. However I have not as of yet come across any games that make me think that they're a must buy purchase. The latest firmware that updated the store was a huge improvement in my opinion, and the whole XMB interface is quite snappy even if it's not the most intuitive system.

Regarding getting the console for GTA, I weighed up the pro's and cons, and decided to go for the 360 version, purely for the additional content coming for it soon, and the online play with my current friends on live. I can't imagine trying to play it with the ps3 controllers, I cannot get used to those at all, the analog sticks just aint in the right places and those triggers just annoy me.

In short, if you are a fan of the other franchises coming onto the ps3, and you are looking for a console which can double up as a capable media centre, then go that route. If you already have friends whom have 360's and they're all gonna get gta, then surely grab one of those and join in the multiplayer mayhem

Good luck

Most of my friends unusally have ps3's, I only have a ps3 so its obvious what I went for. the dlc is a non issue for me, its not arriving till later in the year and no doubt will be in the PC version (I always get PC version too even though I have it on console).

"Convince" you to spend hundreds on hardware for ONE game that you can eventually get for a platform you already have? Man,you are a marketer's dream!!!

If you are that desperate to have the game and you are OK with the cost of the PS3 then you've already answered your question. If the PS3 cost doesn't justify having ONE game then perhaps you should exercise patience.

Ask yourself what would make you happier: Hundreds in cash or having this game a little quicker?

I got the PS3 mostly because of the free PSN lol.

But now, I realised it's more than a games console, with Linux it makes it another PC.

Most of my friends have PS3s as well, which makes it a lot better for me!

Oh, and there is a lot of exclusives coming for th PS3 this year!
