LimeMaster Share Posted October 31, 2013 From the forums I've seen, most of them don't allow you to delete your member account, so what the Neowin staff are doing is completely reasonable. :)

JustGeorge Share Posted November 1, 2013 2). Clear out your profile (personal stuff like email address and IM addresses) and anything else that you deem personal, then follow step 1. You can't delete every email address. There is no option to delete the email address associated with your account.
Barney T. Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2019 Hi Mainer82, Neowin does not delete accounts as this action disrupts threads and the flow of forums when posts are deleted. If you wish, please stop using your account and it will vanish into obscurity. Best, Barney Neowin Administrator 1 Share
adrynalyne Share Posted September 29, 2019 (edited) Does GDPR play into the denial of deleting data? Or is there some loophole?

Jim K Global Moderator Share Posted September 29, 2019 With respect to GDPR ... Quote The above, apart from the strikethroughs (which indicate this is no longer policy) was last edited in 2008. From Friday, May 25 2018 we updated our forums to include GDPR compliant tools, such as the ability to anonymize a member that has chosen to leave Neowin (or has been banned) this can be done on request and is irreversible. In such cases you will have to prove you owned the account and reside in a GDPR enforced country. https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/632944-does-neowin-delete-member-accounts-gdpr-update/ Don't shoot the messenger ... I'm just passing on the above. 2 Share

You click the unsub link, but keep getting spammed by the same BS. My Yahoo account is STILL getting email from a company I unsubbed from at least 6 times more than 7 years ago. Starting with if you need ghost accounts for a member base size, you are fooling yourself or someone else looking at the numbers into the relevancy of Neowin. That’s just another form of artificial inflation.
