Volatile
I have a unix box that I believe needs user intervention. It used to be connected with a KVM which the cable is MIA at the moment... and there is no network connectivity. I need to get a console so that I can see why it will not go online. Any ideas how I can get console in these situations. Behind Cisco routers. Let me know if you need additional information.
pyther
Go to the physical site, plug in a monitor and keyboard, about the only way.
Volatile
Yea, they are there. Looking for a monitor cable for the KVM.. but if that couldnt be found was wondering if there was a way to telnet into it with a serial/console cable.
pyther
Can't you just swap another cable for a short time? Or couldn't you just borrow a monitor from a client? I don't believe there is any such way to access via a serial cable, without setting something up the server first (and then I still dunno if its possible)
CrimsonRedMk Member Posted May 21, 2008 Member Share Posted May 21, 2008 It's not worth the trouble. Steal a cable for a second :p
