jus1haz2
For the past few months I have tried to install ubuntu on my desktop with no success. I have it running perfectly on my laptop but the installation has always failed on my desktop. I was hoping this new version would fix it but it did not. I get a big blinking '_' at the top of the screen and cant proceed past that point. My computer: AMD 4000 7800 GT 2GB ram 74GB raptor I have looked around a little bit but have not found a solution. Any help is appreciated. I did post this in the ubuntu forums but they are absolutely slammed today
Julius Caro
will it even boot into the cd? I mean, show you the options "use or install ubuntu..." and those things? or just a blinking cursor? Did you try the alternate installer cd?
Knife Party
1. do a MD5 hashcheck on any Linux iso you download 2. check whether your hardware is fully compatible 3. i386 = intel , did you choose the correct version? AMD is the one you should look for come back with more info :D

He shouldn't have problems with the i386 one at all! the amd64 one is the 64bit one which is also compatible with intel processors that support those instructions :p
