Dc'1
Right, I couldn't get my Ubuntu to update to 8.04, so I downloaded the iso and installed it via Windows Vista. Then I formatted the partition 7.10 was on (I installed 8.04 on another partition) and GRUB wouldn't load... So I had to reinstall 7.10 and it works again... Is there another way to uninstall it and still be able to boot?

4CxbqFxVnstmA Veteran Posted April 27, 2008 Veteran Share Posted April 27, 2008 I'm sure someone here can help. I sort of know what I might try but I am afraid to give recommendations about dual-booting. Someone out there must have a good idea what you need. I gather you've got Vista and Ubuntu 8.04 and 7.10 on your system. I'd edit the grub bootloader to get rid of 7.10 there. Then I'd use gparted in 8.04 to format that space. Or perhaps I'd reinstate the Vista bootloader, then use Partition Manager in Windows or something like that to reformat both Ubuntus and reclaim that space for Vista. Then I'd try installing 8.04. Again, though, there are others here who can give you better advice. I only use Ubuntu and never really got much into the whole dual-booting thing, so don't take my advice! I know you are frustrated (I would be). Just give the more knowledgeable people a chance to chime in here. :D
Biso
Hi, Try to remove 7.10 completely by fixing the MBR (Master boot record) then install 8.04. Use the following utility to do the trick http://www.sysint.no/nedlasting/mbrfix.htm BR, BISO
