Shift One Team

Recommended Posts

Ok.... after some doing, I think we have the foundations to start Shift Linux afresh. The line up so far is:

Shift Linux Gnome - Simon360, Jason Amison, Kitch

Shift Linux Fluxbox - Mark Jensen

Graphics - Commodore Max, Cosmin

For standardization purposes, all the final decisions and application approval will go through Simon. We have some solid performers and I am confident that we will create a high quality version of Shift One. I will be happy to add anyone who wishes to join the team. Please just let me know where you want to fit into the team.

Thanks to everyone for pitching in!

Fantastic news (didn't see it until today) :pinch:

Anyhow, I am ready to get cracking (kids baseball schedule and other life priorities permitting) on the Flux/Lite version. Just need to match the setup of the Gnome guys as much as possible, so I will be taking my direction from what Simon, Jason and Kitch are doing. (Y)

Hey Mark,

I talked with Simon yesterday and he is not going to get going until July, due to school. I suggest that we try to to use Flux as the prototype for Gnome and try to add the apps that we have for Shift 0.6.2 (and any other things that you might think would help Flux users (or Shift Linux users in general). I will PM you separately.

I would also ask anyone listed who is working with Gnome, get with me, so that we can move forward with it. I will have an additional IRC meeting in a couple of weeks to discuss development of Gnome and Flux further. I really want to do something innovative and fresh since it seems that we are turning over staff. Anyone?

Might I ask for an IRC meeting that takes place later at night (Central US time), so I can attend?

I have made a few changes to the Flux version already (a few small things that make a huge difference in flux from the current 0.6.5 version) that I can try to get re-packaged as .iso releases.

Glad to see that the 'beta' parts of the Shift Wiki have been merged into the main link. Nice one, peachey.

Just a thought, but there are tons of info that could be added to the various sections there. Some of the info would be highly specialized. It might be worth encouraging people to add what they can and what they know about. Maybe advertising the fact that it's there and all, for people to contribute to. :)

PS There do seem to be bits of the shiftlinux.net site that could be updated as well, example--the parts about Morphix in the faq....

I greatly appreciate the feedback, James. If you ever wish to assist us, the door is wide open.

Will do, Mark. And I will try to get with you this weekend sometime to discuss how we can move forward! :)
