felipe_garcia
Is it possible to use Shift in a computer that has a damaged hard disk?
Barney T. Administrators Posted April 27, 2008 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2008 It is a Live CD, so if you have a CD drive and enough memory, it should work.

I'm asking because Ubuntu doesn't work, the computer just freezes when it says uncompressing kernel.

You could give it a try, but I think you'll run into the same problem as Shift is based on Ubuntu and shares its minimum requirements (256MB for the Live CD function). :(

Agree with you there. Ubuntu is not the fastest or lighest thing to boot from. SHift must be close to it though. Never really tried shift... /me looks for screen shots if any and then will concider if its worth using..
markwolfe Veteran Posted April 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted April 30, 2008 I think that the Xubuntu/Shift Lite might work better, advertising that they only require 128MB to run Live http://www.xubuntu.org/get#requirements
