Guest
I have a dell dimension b110. I have sucessfully installed ubuntu on one hdd and have xp on the other. Thank you SO much to all of you for all the information you have shared with me since I joined. I probably would have ended up knitting doilies in the home for the mentally fried if I had to figure this stuff out totally alone. So again Thanks. I have absolutely no problems with the xp install. the only problem I have with ubuntu is no sound. I know the speakers/soundcard work just fine. I have a 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller. I don't know how to get this to work. I appreciate any and all info. gibsongirl
1
open a terminal (xterm), and enter; # alsamixer make sure 'Master' and 'PCM' or not muted (should be a green square under the corresponding bar) if they are, use the arrow keys to navigate to the bars and use the 'M' key to un-mute them. also make sure there at good values, use up/down arrow keys to make them so the dB gain is at 0.00, for example;
Guest
I did that and nothing was muted. I also attempted to get alsa drivers for the speakers and nothing worked. for some weird reason I couldn't get my logitec digital speakers to work with Gutsy 7.10. I was able, however, to get my hubby's speakers put out by the Digital Experience, Inc. Model:EMCPU1-0G to work just fine. Thanks for the help. :D
