BUG: No root file system is defined

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Thought it would be a good idea to install shift.

So put the disc in, waited for it to load, clicked the install icon, went through the setup, went manual, partitioned 36GB to ext3, pressed next and got this error message;

No root file system is defined.

Please correct this from the partitioning menu.

So I attempted it a few times (deleting then remaking), before giving up completely, I booted to arconis disk director 9, and formatted it to ext3 from there then rebooted to shift. Got the same error, tried deleting it on livecd (succesfully) then made it again from bootcd, still same error.

Please fix this bug, or tell me how I can/what I can do!

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

You did a manual partitioning?

You created an ext3, right? Did you assign it to / (root) ? Did you create a swap as well?

It sounds like you did it wrong manually. Try it by letting the installer make the partitions.
