+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted May 7, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted May 7, 2008 Rockstar and Sony plans to patch the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV today to improve the multiplayer experience.Speaking to Eurogamer, a Sony source explained that the patch would help by "reducing the loads on the servers at GameSpy and hopefully the completely random hangs that some users have seen". PS3 owners who bought GTA IV last week have had to endure problems connecting to the multiplayer service almost from day one. What's more, some reported random crashes, for which Rockstar suggested that erasing game data and reinstalling as a possible solution. This week, UK chart monitor Chart-Track reported that 926,000 copies of GTA IV were sold during its first week on sale here - with 413,000 of going to PS3 owners. D!ABOL!C
Cool. The first two times I played, it loaded fine. Then the next time I played, it froze at the loading screen. Fortunately there was an easy temporary fix for it. Now i'm excited to try the Multiplayer. I could never connect before, but gonna try again hopefully later today. It doesnt look like hes getting riled up? Stating its good to see the PS3 get the patch first over the xbox by xero was actually funny. The PS3 edition has some serious problems compared to the 360 one why would they patch it over the ps3 is all hes trying to say.

If its a server patch, the end user (us) shouldn't be prompted to do anything. If the patch is for the actual game, and changes some parameters within it we should be prompted to download it as soon as its booted up.

Sethos
Well, the PS3 issues were far greater than the 360 issues, so no wonder they get it first.
what
They shouldn't have used GameSpy for matchmaking on the PS3 version. I'm sure they could have spent a bit more on developing their own matchmaking system =/ Ah well, good to see them fixing the problems so quickly. IVs only been out for a week. D!ABOL!C
Looks like that patch is out: http://kotaku.com/5008133/rockstar-patches...ps3-online-play Unfortunately for those that have freezes during the loading screens, this patch will not affect you. This patch is only for ONLINE play. So I guess I just have to leave my connection disabled while I play :(

D!ABOL!C
I've enjoyed the single player a lot, the coupla times before I got the freezes that I tried multiplayer I couldn't connect. I don't mind it too much, I play TF2 for my online fix, but I wish I could at least try it out. From what I have read, the Xbox people have been having fun. Ah well. All in due time I guess. Alfista
ok guys. i am into multiplayer games but the multiplayer of GTA4 is very boring... i CAN connect to rooms no problems but i never saw a room where there were more than 4 people including me... After playing COD4 and feeling the adrenalin, GTA4 does not satisfy me. Still COD4 is the Jenna Jamesson of PS3.. Its GEORGEOUS and its exciting to play with on the other hand GTA4 is lile KAY PARKER.. It is ugly cause its graphics are outdated but still its fun to play :) (not online though)
