KDE: Stable or Unstable?

Recommended Posts

Any specific version of KDE you guys would prefer? I know they change and whatnot, and there will probably be about 5 different version changes by the time Shift:one is out, but do you think we should stick with the stable releases or go for the latest available ones.

At the moment, the lineup stands as:

4.1 - Alpha release, so possibly unstable. Brings a fair few new features, but fairly similar in design/functionality over 4.04

4.04 - The latest stable release - A complete remould from 3.5.x, however, anyone who hasn't used KDE for a while (or hasn't upgraded recently) may find themselves completely lost (as they've moved literally everything around).

3.5.x - These are the classic versions that everybody is used to - they work better on slower systems.

As it stands, I'm tossing up between 4.1 and 4.04 (well, the ultimate battle is stable vs unstable) - although I'm not sure if I should also aim to include 3.5.x (for example, so that the user could select either during installation or from the login screen) - Maybe a poll would be the best route to go down so that I can gather what people actually want, as alot of systems don't run KDE 4 smoothly, and I guess some people simply prefer the classic version - any thoughts?

I'd go with that one....... simply because we want the least amount of problems with our distro. Thanks for looking into them......
