sialivi
Just picked up a PS3 at the store, hooked it up to a pc monitor using an hdmi to dvi adapter and is now stuck with a black screen, which I'm assuming is because the ps3 defaults to the analog output. How do I switch to the hdmi output when I can't see the menus?
Admiral Michael
When turning on the system, just hold down the power button for FIVE seconds. It should beep at you and then restart over whatever cables you've hooked it up with. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstatio...hread.id=823120
sialivi
Sadly it seems switching to hdmi wasn't the problem. Hooked it up to my projector and it worked just fine, so apparently my PC monitor isn't accepting the signal for some reason, any ideas as to why? The monitor is a HP LP2465 and I've tried both dvi inputs with the same result, black screen. This is using the same dvi cable and the same dvi to hdmi adapter as I used with the projector so those aren't the problem. I know the projector supports hdcp and the monitor doesn't, but that surely shouldn't effect anything other than movie playback Any ideas? Am I screwed? WelshBluebird
pretty sure for the PS3 the display needs to support HDCP for HDMI / DVI to be used at all. No matter what your doing on the console.
sialivi
Afaik lack of hdcp should only scale down the video output, not totally prevent it
