Where did the name Neowin come from

Recommended Posts

Okay I would like to know where the name for the Neowin website came from. I am seeing more Mac people lately and was wondering that staff have posted that they love Macs, so why Neowin? Just wanted to know and maybe others would like to know as well.

Thank you in advance and look forward to the story :D

Neo meaning new

Win meaning Windows

At the time, new windows was Codename: Whistler.

You're talking 2000, so a lot of people have come and gone since then, and many people have changed their tastes as well.

the "win" is obviously windows, and at the time the matrix was very popular...

Thats what I was thinking but was hoping for some party story or somthing that would have been funny :D

One of the founders, Steven Parker, went by "Neobond". Also, in the beginning they reported a lot of Windows-related news (esp. XP alpha/beta releases), so I'm sure that's where the 'win' part of 'Neowin' came. :)

Do I know this for sure? No, but it's an educated guess from reading Neowin's Wikipedia entry. ;)
