KGHtheII
Gedit is lagging very bad if i try to open it through terminal. However, if i open gedit through Applications > Accessories > Text Editor it works just fine. However I run into the issue of not being able to save certain files without the permissions. Here is what happens if i try to open from terminal: I type for example sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces then i type my password. It just hangs there in the terminal without bringing up another prompt. Then after a couple minutes, the gedit window loads up, but nothing is visible except the title bar. After a while, the contents load up, then the buttons. They it lags more until im able to actually edit text, then it lags even more when i try to save. Eventually it works, but it takes a Verrryy long time. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
-JMC-
Try removing gedit: apt-get remove gedit then reinstall apt-get install gedit (I think ubuntu uses apt-get :hmmm: ) If not use emacs, its more light-weight and good for editing config files. Thanks ill try that after gedit stops lagging on me. I think all the issues im having with hardy step from upgrading instead of doing a fresh install. Dont think ill do an update for the next release.
KGHtheII
Well -JMC- worked like a charm. I finally have Ubuntu running smoothly (for now). Thanks a lot.
