DrunkenMaster
I'm looking for a simple and powerful text editor for word processing using the Linux Terminal. I've been using Nano and Pico for years but its most just to edit .conf files. I think Vi and Emacs are overkill for my purposes (and I can never figure them out anyways). I'm looking for a go between of Nano / Pico and Wordperfect. I don't care for spell checking and such. I'm putting it on my EEE PC. The small screen means that I really need to make efficient use of the screen and reduct the font size. I don't use it much since I installed Windows and it takes up too much screen space as does the default Linux on the EEE. I'm putting Slackware on it. markwolfe Veteran Posted May 27, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 27, 2008 Well, I just opened synaptic and looked at a few and installed some (I assume you want console-only apps). aee might be too simple. fte-terminal looked interesting. or maybe joe. I didn't try any of them for much longer than typing a few characters, and then exiting. Not sure if any of these are powerful enough for you. LightIdea
joe would be the best choice for a EEE :)
