none of these browsers are "next generation." Three are just current generation and one is still last generation.

I use Avant Browser. I used to use FF but that was back in the days of version 1. I haven't tried it since because Avant has done everything I wanted better than FF did, at that time.

Firefox 3 FTW. Wow do I sound like a fanboi?

At the same time looking forward with how Opera 9.5 and Internet Explorer 8 pan out.

I use IE8 (currently emulating IE7, which I use on my laptop). Works perfectly fine for me.

I had no idea IE was beta testing for IE8, anyway Mozilla has come so far with Foxfire.

I agree with you. Natural inclination to abbreviate a compound word like that is to use the start of both sub-words. However, straight from the Mozilla site:
8. How do I capitalize Firefox? How do I abbreviate it?

Only the first letter is capitalized (so it's Firefox, not FireFox.) The preferred abbreviation is "Fx" or "fx".

(it should be noted that I could not find this information beyond version 1.5 of Firefox, so I suppose you could take the FAQ item as 'depreciated' and abbreviate it in the more sensible "FF" fashion, whilest disregarding the jeers and taunts of the "Fx" 1337.
