systat
I just downloaded that 700mb Gentoo live CD (2008 beta) I think it is called, I booted it up, everythign was fine, until I checked all aditional packages to be installed, since then, first 30 minutes procesor was working, I opened HTOP, and it seemed like something is installing, after that time both processor usage went to 0.00%, and CD started to buzzing in rythmic order since that, all the time of installing those additional dependencies I didn't see any progress bar, It was only "Working..." thing, Uptime now is 02:06, Load average: 0.02 0.02 0.05 Tasks: 43 total, 1 running, only thing that is constantly going on is gentoo PID, from 0.0 to 0.7 without any visible purpose, I don't know what to do anymore I am on the ****ing edge, anything didn't changed in past 1:30 hours, When I try to press cancel, I got stupid message: Do you really want to cancel before the install complete, I know that If i press Yes I would **** everything up, but I don't know what the **** to do anymore, I have HP compaq 6715s AMD turion64X2 2ghz 1 GB ram 120 gb HD
Sterling Christensen
Keep in mind: 1. Gentoo compiles packages from source. Depending on how many packages it's trying to install it could take anywhere from an hour to a day (seriously). 2. The most reliable way is to follow the instructions to perform a manual command line installation. Gentoo's graphical installer is very new and needs work - it has always been buggy.
