Anyony know how to resolve my eeepc issues?

Alright this eee pc **** is really starting to **** me off, I must have been really unlucky. Heres what happend.

(1) I bought an eee pc from JB Hi Fi in southland, Victoria, Australia. Took it home, used it for a bit and then it switched off randomly and didnt want to switch back on.

(2) So i went back to JB hi fi and they said they have to see its problem to replace it, as it turns out it worked when i got there. So i went home and used it for a couple more days and then switched off randomly, this time no power whatsoever.

(3) Back to JB Hi Fi again, this time it didnt work when i showed them, then they told me they cant replace it and i have to call up Asus myself and get a replacement authorization number. Which at first i thought was a load of rubbish so i yelled a bit then they continued saying the customer has to call not the reseller. Went home called Asus and then they told me that, thats not how it works the customer should simply buy it and use it, it is the resellers responsibility to replace products.

(4) Once again, i found myseld in JB Hi Fi. I told them what Asus told me and the guy said "****, these Asus people always putting this on us, when we cant do anything about it", he then said " youl have to call them again". I said no you call them this time ive been here 4 times already. So he goes to call them and when he got back he said "Oh thats right Asus was pretty good with replacing products, I was thinking of HP". So then finally he agreed to replace it, and as he was pulling it off the stock shelf which was about 2 storeys high.. He drops it... Yet he gave me that one anyway. So i go home to test it out, didnt boot windows.

(5) Guess what, back at JB Hi Fi. This time it went smoothly they agreed to replace it and they saw the problem. Oh but none left in stock, so they give me a demo one which i currently have yet i was a bit hessitant to getting it. I should have followed my hesitation, after a bit of use and an instalation of Fedora distro, occasionally on a boot or when opening a window the graphics will go weird like in negative effect without the right colors, pixalated and blurred but just for a second or two then it goes, which is a resnably hard issue to prove to the store as it only happens on the occasion.

So now what, anyone got a suggestion?

Seriously scream at them. It is never smart to place blame on others when in the business world. They should have helped you to the best of their abilities the FIRST time you went in there. I would definitely demand a complete money back return and get your laptop from another store/online.

I agree with the above. Pretty poor customer service imo, even though they eventually agreed to replace it after speaking with Asus.

Alright thanks for the help, im just going to format it back to windows so they dont try to blame it breaking down because i changed OS which i seriously could see happening, take it back, and tell them there serivce was terrible and go to some other shop i just found today that sells it cheaper.

First i have to buy an external CD drive  ...

I had to return my eeePC twice before I got a good one actually, so I feel for you. My store was happy to do an exchange after I showed them my issues though. Good luck

If you want it to work as described, I would just take the next one home and leave the Operating System well alone. Then hopefully you won't run into any issues.

Changing the OS would not cause any problems. It was simply a defective product, the second time round i believe it was just a software problem, which would of been fixed by a format and changing OS anyway.

It's funny cuz changing the OS caused me issues. Basically the touchpad stopped working after installing the Windows driver, but it was working fine with the eeePC linux distro. Anyhow I ended up returning mine because of this issue and got a new one with no issue.

It is well built for the price you pay, don't expect anything spectacular (to each their own also ;)). The main thing is, I've just had bad luck so I will not hold it against the entire product. It's still a good buy but I would go for one of the larger screen ones myself (as long as your budget fits it).

I understand your first few were defective, but when you get your new one I would leave it well alone - and just use it as it appears, out of the box. Just to rule everything else out.
