Jason S. Global Moderator Posted June 13, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted June 13, 2008 haha i ran into this problem when i first started to use linux too... they dont make that stuff easy! "yeah, just download this jar.noob file and throw it into your /usr/bin/nub folder through Vi and run your .bash#1/1 command script"
Pseudonym
If its like any other distro, dont you just go to the app manager and choose the apps you want to install? Thats how it works in Ubuntu anyway. There's also probably a command line command like "sudo apt get" or something (I'm sure thats wrong).

PL_ Veteran Posted June 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 13, 2008 lol i'm dying over here loli love it... Yan even helped confirm my exaggeration  It's just sudo apt-get followed by the name of the thing you want :p You Windows users make everything sound so easy... "yeah just go to "www.blahblahblah.com" in your internet browser and locate the file by moving the cursor to the hyperlink and performing a left button click which you can then use to download the file and install into your C:\Program Files"... It's honestly a very good system once you get over the fact that it works differently to Windows...so much easier to find stuff and upgrade :)

Open up your "supermarket" for software, click, and it is installed. Not very complex, is it? And updating your Linux system is effortless - a task that is nearly impossible on a typical Windows system. But to each their own. Enjoy your XP, but at least realize you are seriously misinformed about (and misinforming others) on this topic.

markwolfe Veteran Posted June 15, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2008 Mark to the rescue :D Well, there are legitimate reasons to prefer Linux/Windows/OSX over the alternatives, and there are total bullcrap excuses with no foundation. ;)
Dc'1
Linux gets pretty easy when you learn the basics, well, when you find walkthroughs on how to do things lol.
