CABHATSMARSP6776a
I somehow deleted my Desktop folder while cleaning up some stuff one day and now nautilus is using my home folder for my desktop folder. This would be fine, but I don't like all my stuff showing up and cluttering my desktop. Usually you can use gconf-editor and change "/apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_is_home_dir" to false, log out, log in, and it'd be sorted. But it doesn't work. There's also some files that keep reappearing after I Shift+Delete them. I've googled it a bit, and looked round here but found nothing so far. Any helps? markwolfe Veteran Posted June 18, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 18, 2008 You didn't mention if you tried re-creating the "desktop" directory or not. It will be case sensitive, so not sure if it should be "Desktop" or some such name - I don't use Gnome, so can't say for sure.

Sorry yeah I did create it exactly as it was before, the only difference was the icon was just a folder icon rather than the special desktop folder icon. The details in the key say it will use ~/Desktop. But it's still using my home directory.
