Kreuger
What type of file is inside the zipped archive?
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted June 18, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted June 18, 2008 Yeah, 7z is not a file you install, it's an archive. It's what's IN the archive that's important to you.
markwolfe Veteran Posted June 18, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 18, 2008 The first post said it was a "theme". Is it a Gnome theme? KDE? Fluxbox? I think that Gnome allows you to just drag a theme into their dialog to 'install' it. Probably KDE does, too. But we will need a bit more info to help be more specific. (and inside the archive, there is probably a 'readme' file that explains what to do) ;)
Fish
You'll need to install p7zip-full from Synaptic to be able to extract the file.

atlef
Then you do not need to unpack it. Just open Appearance in the Preferences menu and drag the file into that window. And it should give you a message that it is installed. atlef.
b0zm4g
HAHA :woot: Thats the second time i thought it would take a sequence of terminal commands to get something working, was a-lot simpler then i imagined lol.
markwolfe Veteran Posted June 19, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 19, 2008 ^^^ Quite often, I see people make more work for themselves, then complain that "Linux is too difficult". People will feel a need to pre-create a set of partitions when they don't know what partitions they need. Or start trying to download source tarballs and compile, rather than doing an apt-get install celestia or click on it in their package manager. I thought Gnome had a 'drag it in' feature, but I haven't used Gnome in many years. Glad you got it working. (Y)
