Vista locking up/freezing now game crashing (see post #37)

This seems to be the event that happened at the time of the crash....

Check what power state is enabled in the BIOS, should be S3. And also check that the BIOS should be managing the IRQ's - not the OS.

Disable "Cool N' Quiet" (equivalent of Intel's SpeedStep) if it's enabled.

Radish?

Power state is under ACPI configuration, "Suspend To RAM" should be on "Auto". Doesn't seem this motherboard allows you to change the IRQ settings -

Yep, if it doesn't work - might need to look into updating the BIOS.

So is it the MoBo that's at fault?

Yes, a possibility but the motherboard isn't that old yet - ASRock may have rectified the issue in a BIOS update. See how it runs for now.

Still crashing? If the motherboard has warranty - RMA it, or buy a new AM2 motherboard (the other members can help you here). It's your call.

Ok little update after getting Her back from the shop...

issues they found

Spy/malware that spybot apparently spybot didn't catch so they went ahead and installed something called "SUPERAntispyware" of which i have never heard of and uninstalled Avast of which i had the full version and installed AVG free and still it happens so i am taking her back tomorrow

Just thought i'd let you know......

SUPERAntispyware is legit, also look into MalwareBytes' Anti-Spyware.

Stick with AVG for the time being.

Ok now it doesn't seem to like me playing games at all both C&C3 and Gmod crash part way into the game the crash gos as follows

1. game loads

2. i play game for 5 to 10 minutes

3. no signal on monitor and computer sounds like its restarting but doesn't and i need to hit reset

could this be caused by the same problem that is causing the lock ups?

and now my 1TB hard drive has just gave me the scare of my life!

What is your Video Card?
