markwolfe Veteran Posted June 25, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 25, 2008 Does this help you? http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Haup..._WinTV-HVR-1800
Berserk87
not really. i already checked that stuff, but i just noticed this. Analog support for the WinTV-HVR-1800 (which is currently contingent upon the addition of such to the CX23385/7 driver) will be added in the near future, but it will likely be too late for inclusion into 2.6.24. im using an analog signal..... and Hauppauge's pages about linux are full of broken links and mostly outdated. redvamp128
What kind of video card do you have? I think I got an older one to work with Red Hat Linux but I had to install official drivers for my video card and not the default ones. That and I think I had to drop the resolution from 1024*768 down to 800*600 to get it to view something about drivers. also have a look at this page. http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Main_Page Though this was about 10 years ago and since then I have sold that card. Also I think I had to install 3D drivers as well.

kaiwai
still need help =\ It clearly states that input signals aren't supported - please read the links instead of ignoring them. If something is unsupported, it doesn't matter how much you **** and moan, its unsupported.

Berserk87
i very much doubt this, but would it be possible to VM vista, then use media center in there to watch tv? :s
markwolfe Veteran Posted June 26, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 26, 2008 No. Unfortunately, the nature of a virtual machine is that it doesn't present *real* hardware to the guest OS. So a Vista guest would not see a Hauppage card.
