A Warning about Commodo Firewall

Question

I recently tried switching to commodo firewall on recommendation of a few reputable websites. This was a big mistake. All it caused me was horrible horrible pain. It used up 90% of my system's resources on startup. Not to mention the loading time was four or five times as long, for anything. Commodo's usage was so horrible that it lagged notepad. I don't know if it is only I that has experieced these. But one thing I can say for sure is that it was definitely Commodo doing it, as after an uninstall I have had zero to no problems. As for freeware firewalls, Zone Alarm has never done me wrong.

Been using Comodo 3.0.25 since launch and never had any of your problems. Must be something with your machine configuration, or something (poor usage etc').

Why is this titled 'A Warning To Freeware Users' when you just have on complaint? I don't know about Commando but lots of freeware is excellent

What's this got to do with warning freeware users? at most it should be a warning to commodo users and that's assuming that it's not just something screwed in your setup.

*burns all his freeware CDs, linux discs and formats his hard drives straight away* Keep them evil freewares away!

So anyway, back in reality land. Just because you had 1 bad experience with 1 piece of freeware, doesn't really mean that a "Warning to freeware users" needs to be issued :p

I use Commodo firewall, and I too haven't had any of the issues that you describe. The only thing that annoys me about it is that it doesn't seem to pay any attention to when you allow or disallow things and tell it not to ask for that program again - because it most probably will ask you at least 5 times before it gets the hint.

Just sounds like an isolated incident really, unlucky for you, but there's probably other freeware firewall software out there that won't have the problems you described. Don't let this experence put you off freeware forever.

Yeah, the title is a little misleading, and no offense, but a lot of people are running Comodo with great results. Including myself, so I think it has to do with how you set it up in the first place. But that's just my guess.

I've seen similar and even worse things happen with software you have to pay for, retarded title. The cost of the software has no reflection on t's quality, there are GREAT freeware programs (Firefox anyone?) and awful payware programs and vise versa.

Warning about commercial software. I used a commercial anti-virus product once and it wasn't very good.

See the problem there?

I've used Comodo Firewall before and I've never had any problems with it. The only reason I removed it was because I bought Eset Smart Security.

I think it's Comodo Firewall, not Commodo :p .

And yet you continue to use Zone Alarm.... ahahahahaha

Zone Alarm is a joke. Outpost gave me various problems. Comodo is the only one I haven't had problems with, other than the legendary Sygate Pro, back before it was killed off by Symantec.

IMHO Both Symantec and Zone Alarm are a menace to computer users. It's amazing how Symantec manages to be so popular. I guess some people are just afraid to try the alternatives, even when they're free. Well, enjoy your corrupted registries and BSODs then...

Comodo firewall uses 6MB Ram and you say it's a resource sucker....and you're using bloatware Zone Alarm.

Sweat f*ck all mate, sweat f*ck all  To be honest, you shouldn't use a firewall you can't spell..
