Convicted murderer Hans Reiser fingers corpse in Oakland Hills

Hans Reiser, the wealthy Linux developer who has been described as "brilliant," led authorities to a location in the Oakland Hills where he said they would find the body of his ex-wife, Nina Reiser.

The remains found have yet to be identified, but this confirms rumors that Reiser was looking to cut a deal, unearthing the body in exchange for a more lenient sentence of only fifteen years for the murder of the mother of their son.

Reiser is due to be sentenced on Wednesday, which would make him sixty upon his release if he serves a fifteen-year term.

Meanwhile, Reiser's counsel during the trial are bickering with Reiser's divorce attorney, with both camps claiming to represent the convict.

While his trial lawyers are trying to argue that the software developer was and is mentally incompetent, his former counsel is asserting exactly the opposite.

I'm not really surprised he lead them to the body to try to get off lightly, I don't think it's going to work though (since he lied about it all through the trial up until sentencing)

Also, how did you not see the problem with the title!

I was also confused about the title - why would something like that be posted in BPN?

Also, was I the only one who got the joke between the title and that he's a linux guy?

After reading all the circumstancial evidence surrounding his arrest and the 'give away' mistakes he made in concealing what he'd done, there was never any doubt in my mind he was guilty.

Sad really - a brilliant mind, gone to waste.

Hans Thomas Reiser (born December 19, 1963) is an American computer programmer and convicted murderer.

I love how the tone of that first sentence probably reflects his state of mind over time. I can prove this with a graph:

I agree, and I sincerely hope that this doesn't lead to a lighter sentence.

It will be nice if he could get a VERY powerful computer and work on open source during this 15 years in jail

That's a good way to improve Linux development in general. Put programmers in jail (like the team responsible for Vista) and make them work on open-source projects until they drop dead. Sort of like a Soviet gulag.
