brayan27
would be wise to do a virus/spyware scan. But it can also be something else, sorry I can't be of much help maybe a more experienced user can help you. is the problem just in the browser or in the entire computer? Mordkanin
IE or FF? Try starting your browser in no-addons (IE) or safe (FF) mode.
Raa
Your pc may not be specced enough for Vista? It's very demanding... Got SP1 installed? Was XP snappy? Might be worth going back to it if you have troubles?
soldier1st
vista without sp1 is total crap, also what are your sys specs?

Evolution
It may be a driver issue. What graphics card do you have? Try updating all your drivers. What programs do you have running in the background?

Azizan
Did this just happen after you installed the last batch of updates? I had the same exact problem after installing last Tuesday's updates and finally had to uninstall windows specific updates (left office updates alone) and all is fine now. I still need to reinstall each update individually to figure out which one is the culprit. (Vista Business sp1, Office 2k7 sp1)
Unimatrix Xero
my system has been fine since the last WU session so take Azizans post with a pinch of salt
NEVER85
Check Task Manager and see if anything's causing your CPU usage to spike. You can try the options some other members mentioned as well. Also, ignore Raa. He flaunts his pro-XP/anti-Vista sentiment every chance he gets.

Azizan
my system has been fine since the last WU session so take Azizans post with a pinch of salt There is something wrong with the last batch of updates, my machine is an older generation Thinkpad Z60m with a clean installation of Vista, but my friend who is with me now and is using a brand new Inspiron 1520 with a factory installed Vista home prem. is also reporting some slowness in Flash enabled pages in both IE and Firefox 3 coupled with some slow network responsiveness. Azizan
Im thinking spyware issues? It's worth mentioning also that i ran Spybot s&d and it reported back nothing save a few cookies in FF3 and IE, also tried to check the registry but found nothing wrong with it, after that i proceeded with the uninstallation. Srsly
Might be a Microsoft issue. It happens moar. But, did you look in task manager and see if there is a process that takes up a lot of ram that shouldnt?
Mordkanin
Though it may be a case of Windows Rot. If the OP was running XP, I might agree, but since it's Vista, I doubt it. The "after 2 months, my install is slow" problems don't really happen anymore.
New_Age
<Snipped>it requires SO MUCH to run smoothly. no matter what the specs. are Vista will run slow and lag a lot. i installed Vista on my system and it didn't do so well. Vista used up 800MB of RAM to just run normal and that was without having FireFox or any programs up besides my Anti-Virus. <snipped - persephone> Edited July 11, 2008 by Persephone

Mordkanin
oh dear god. you guys need to be banned from the windows support forums Indeed. It's annoying as hell to see this garbage posted in every Vista support thread that pops up. It contributes absolutely nothing to the question at hand, and just makes this forum more difficult for people to find answers in.
redvamp128
Windows Rot- That is so funny- I know of 2 people recently who thought it was Windows Rot, I took a look at their PC's with Vista. Removed some of the default Startup Programs installed by their OEM. Took off some of the default startup in the Side Panel (Rotating Desktop Gadget)(and the Dual Clock) Updated Drivers/Downloaded Updates. Went into BIOS and changed a few settings. Defragmented Drive / Got rid of temp files-. Turned off Auto Starts for Yahoo and WLM. Now the two people Swear that I reinstalled. One was With Vista Home Premium SP1 and One Without SP1 Home Basic. The Premium Had 2gigs of memory and The Basic Only had 1gig- One was a 3.2ghz Premium and the other was a 2gHz. New_Age
well, ok i over re-acted but still Vista is a resource hog in my book. vista did run pretty well and smooth on my System but for all the changes and unnecessary interface and the lack of Driver support and programs it just isn't worth it right now. rdxg0d
Turn UAC off, turn off search indexer and replace it with locate32 .....go to msconfig, then boot , then advanced options, then choose number of processors...this is if you have a dual core machine...make sure you choose 2 if you do. Run ccleaner religiously, run spybot, and install jkdefrag to run as a service using the sc command or using task scheduler. You should also clear the prefetch data and your pagefile as well especially if you've disabled the builtin search indexer. oh yea disable the builtin defrag too...and if your running 32bit vista....go 64bit if your cpu supports it runs ten times much smoother....hope this helps....
