jebus197
Hi, how do I automatically mount a partition at boot with full read write access using ntfs-3g? Do I have to edit fstab somehow?
markwolfe Veteran Posted July 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 11, 2008 Have you confirmed the mount command that works for you to manually mount the partition? If so, then you need to format that into an fstab entry. Here are a couple of links, but I don't use NTFS, so am not 100% of which exact entry would be what you are looking for. http://www.linux-faqs.com/faq/misc/ntfs.php#4.10 http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_NTFS_write_wi...tfs-3g_via_sudo
utdarkviper
I thought Linux coulnd't ever have full read/write access to ntfs? Just fat32 is able to be used by both I though...
markwolfe Veteran Posted July 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 11, 2008 Yes. For the past few years it has had supported NTFS write in mainstream distros.
utdarkviper
I must not have had a "mainstream" distro :p PC Linux OS is the one I have on my laptop. Will shut up now as to not hijack this thread off-topic :D

Will shut up now as to not hijack this thread off-topic :D Must not. Ubuntu seems to have had ntfs-3g since Fiesty. And it could be added in before that. The second google hit on "pclos ntfs-3g" shows a how-to from 2007, so PCLOS could do it then too (even if it wasn't included on the CD, it is right there in the repos).
