Siberian wooden houses (70+ wallpapers!)

Recommended Posts

I live in Irkutsk, center of East Siberia, 60 km from lake Baikal, deepest in the world. Irkutsk has a lot of wooden houses, once beautiful, now quickly degrading, being destroyed by time. I decided to drive around the city and nearest villages and take photos of most unusual houses, before they become history. I am not a professional photographer, but I wanted to do it anyway. I hope you will enjoy the houses as much as I did!

This is only one of 70+ wallpapers! Instead of adding them all to wallpapers gallery, I created a special website. For more photos, please visit Siberian wooden houses website:

Thanks!

Wow, this is awesome. I love seeing this kind of stuff, especially through the eyes of someone who knows what they're looking at. Maybe these shots will get the attention of people that can somehow save these. Are these unique to Irkutsk or common throughout Siberia?

I love these photos of the Siberian Wooden Houses, they're beautiful!

I would buy a subscription to your site if you were offering them for download.

I don't like the way they're made into wallpapers. I m sure that would suit some people, but IMHO the photos stand on their own and don't need the fancy treatment you've given them. It spoils them for me. If I want to make a fancy arrangement like that out of any photo, I can do it myself.

These photos are not only beautiful, but they are a historical document.

I'm sure you would sell a lot more subcriptions if you offered the pictures themselves, as well as just the scrapbook treatment they've been given which IMAO tarts them up and cheapens them.

Many thanks for the straight, unadorned photos, and also for the processing information!

Off to bed now, but tomorrow night I'll register to support you in this important work you're doing documenting these before they're irrevocably lost.

It has inspired me to want to come to Irkutsk and see them for myself.

I guess I've missed the good weather this year, so hopefully next spring/summer!
