I was afraid Metropolis Software had discontinued offering the game. Sierra have not yet released any of their "Quest" adventure games for free, thus if you are downloading them without owning the originals you are in violation of their copyright. Sierra has, to my knowledge, released the following titles for free: Johnny Castaway (screensaver) Betrayal At Krondor (RPG) Red Baron 1 (flight sim) Mystery House (Apple II adventure game, now lost to time) Tribes 1 and 2 (tactical collaborative FPS) Caesar (empire-building game by Impressions) None of these are actually available on Sierra's website anymore (Tribes was released on FilePlanet), but if you come across them they're legal to download. Sierra designer Al Lowe has also released some of his early games for free, but he has no official permission to do so. Runesword 2 is a role playing construction kit which allows you to create your own RPG adventure which you can share. Runesword 2 comes with 2 adventures. The Runesword 2 page is at http://www.runesword.com/rs2.html . Here is a little bit of history. Runesword 1 was released as freeware during 2000, Crosscut games released Runesword 2 in 2001 but your had to pay for Runesword 2. Runesword 2 was finally released as open source last month. If you can't run Runesword 2, you can download Runesword 1 which is freeware at http://www.runesword.com/rs1.html . Crosscut Games has released their 2 commerical Apple 2 titles which were sold as commerical software during the 1980's as freeware. The games are Bronze Dragon: Conquest of Infinity & Dragon Side II: The Twisted Speare. These 2 game downloads are at http://www.runesword.com/bd.html . Scott Adams (not the Dilbert creator. This Scott Adams is the creator of games such as Pirate Island, Voodoo Castle. Scott Adams was the creator of the game company called Adventure International which produced mainly text adventure games). Its good to know Sierra has took time to make some of their older games with better graphics. Elite is a space trading/mercanary game which was programmed by Ian Bell & David Braben. Elite was published on many systems (mainly during the 1980's). There was also demo releases of Elite for Sega Genesis, Nintendo Gameboy & Atari 8-bit which can be downloaded from http://www.iancgbell.clara.net/elite/archive/index.htm . While I'm on the subject. I think that it would be great to add a link to the front page for the Retro Remakes site which is located at http://www.remakes.org/ . Retro Remakes is one the biggest sites dealing with remakes of classic games. Retro Remakes has remakes for GBA, Gameboy, Amiga, PC (Dos, Windows, linux, et al), Palm, Mac, et al. Joyouse Rebel was sold as shareware by Scott Hagg but he released the game as freeware during 1999. Joyous Rebel is an RPG & It can be downloaded from http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/2805/download.htm . I played the shareware version during 1996 or 1997 but I never got far into the game (I downloaded & played it again when it got released as freeware but I never got far into the game). Pasi Laaksonen has released his Amiga shareware games as freeware. You can download his shareware games which are ZapTris, FunTris, Mine! and Mato & you also need to download the registration keys to these programs & the games/registration keys are at http://www.tiikoni.net/amiga/ . I downloaded Maniac Mansion Deluxe several days ago & I played part of it this morning. I will have to agree with you, Maniac Mansion Deluxe is an excellent remake of Maniac Mansion. The graphics, music/sound are excellent. Now if only a group of programmers would remake Loom & Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (The Graphic Adventure) & I would be real happy. On the second question, yes, I got the info from CAPS. I've also talked with Martyn Brown, though, and he's said that Team17 will be looking into releasing more classics for free, through other sites to begin with (Dream17 and Back2Roots have been selected so far and have some games to offer in at least the classic ADF format). Okay, it was possibly me that you talked too. However, if I did indeed tell you these things, I should have added that it wasn't really information that was meant to go public until it actually happened. ;) I do seem to remember speaking to Martyn Brown also. Oops, then. :blush: I've been keeping a watchful eye out for changes on the Factor 5 website ever since being given the "news", but so far I've seen nothing in IPF format on their site. Yeah, Martyn Brown is a real oldschool type of gamer, I suppose. Good thing too, since Team 17 is really one of the oldest Amiga era developers still around. Also, Squirminator2K on this forum (and at forum.team17.com) has been allowed to offer the Amiga games via his website (aforementioned Dream17). He only has ADFs today, though. *hint hint* @soloredd, no I'm sorry, Oregon Trail was never released as freeware as far as I can find out. As it currently stands they have an A4000 ready to dump some of their stuff and were trying to put it on their network. I don't want to bother them too much, but now E3 is over, I might give them another bell to see what it happening.
