LightIdea
Wow, it's been a while since I compiled something for linux, but I'm glad to say that compiling galaxium messenger is great! Here is the link for Galaxium, there should be pre-compiled binaries out there. http://code.google.com/p/galaxium/ Here is a screenshot !

Fish
This is a great IM program, and it's sure to be a major player. Well worth keeping an eye on how this develops. (Y)
Buu
Looks great! Superior in interface design/layout to pidgin and a few of its competatiors... ONE SMALL THING however and that is, does it support webcam. So many free and open clients out there, all missing basic webcam/audio functionality. Gonna keep and eye on it anyway My bad, noticed its on their "Currently Working" list. GREAT NEWS! :D
Minifig
It looks sorta like Digsby.
Fish
As far as I know, aMSN has the best webcam support (although I understand Kopete works well too, though I haven't tried it). As I see it, the problems lies in the fact that there is no one, single easy way of implementing webcam support in Linux, so devs have to find their own methods for doing it. There is work underway with the Gnome Empathy/Telepathy project which may see the light of day in the next Ubuntu release, and that looks promising, but as is so often the case, until developers can figure out the solution, features like cam support and direct file transfers are often given a lower priority than others. DomZ
I'll have to give this a whirl, it looks pretty good. I'm currently using emesene, and some cool information is that the emesene dev's (As well as others) are joining forces to make aMSN 2, which will have support for multiple GUI frontends :D
The2
looks nice! Only KDE app I'm using is Kopete...this might do the work instead
MidnightDevil
Looks neat. As mentioned previously, most of them lack video conf support. Amsn does, but its interface isnt the most pleasent. I use amesene which also looks neat, but no cam support. Anyways  Kopete does, but has some terrible performance issues when using it lol.
