N64 has worse graphics than SNES

Recommended Posts

SNES games were 2D, N64 3D. Even the NES Zelda graphics are more acceptable than N64.

of course unless anyone knows about a 2D game for the N64!

First off wow this is what 13 years late? hehe... second

SNES had a standard resolution of 256x224 with a max resolution in interlaced mode (which almost no one used) of 512 x 448... N64 had a standard resolution of 320x240 with a max res of 640x480... so technically the graphics were better.. and techinically N64 and PS1 were first gen 3D so of course they wern't that great... (besides the 3D0) they where the first home console 3D systems (and no the SuperFX chip on SNES doesnt count, that wasnt even really 3D jus a math co-processor that made the SNES work at 12MHz)

also you just can't compare 2d with 3d .. 3d gives you load of more work .. I believe the logic between 2d and 3d processing power was something in the line of amount of work to the power of 2 vs. amount of work to the power of 3

Not sure tough .. anyways .. don't bash the N64 ;) It was one of the best consoles ever and it had some of the best games ever .. Zelda oot, Zelda mm, Mario64 etc...

I would kill for a HD remake of Zelda OOT

Actually a few SNES games were 3D, and those looked a lot worse then the N64 3D titles. Also, the amount of textures used on 3D models was a lot more then the amount of sprites on a 2D SNES game. This entire logic just fails.

okay... so, lets compare... starfox on SNES vs sm64 on N64?

both "3d", of course ,sm64 more than starfox.

But i agree on that there overall was more good games for the SNES than on the N64 (for me at least)

The N64 was useless at 2D graphics because it filtered everything. :p

What exactly are you smoking dude?

N64 came out in 1996...xbox came out in 2001.

Even if an n64 game came out in 2001, it is still limited by n64s 1996 technology.

So your comparison is full of ****. Lay off the crack dude.

Dude you must be a 12yr old, your reply is totally out of place and unrelated. If you have no idea it's better to just shut up.Try Conker on the XBOX:

As for the N64 vs. SNES,I loved the SNES,still love it..still own one.Never gave a damn about N64.PSX smashed everything in its way back then.Graphics comparison is absolutely useless... WHO in the hell would compare 3D filtered textures with 2D games ?

Thanks for the info. Now that I played Conker for an hour, I think the graphics are enjoyable. Not great, but enjoyable to look at. The texture or the feel is just impossible to find in any current generation games. Fish jumping out of the water, wow.

However it's a disturbing and frustrating game (should've read some reviews). I will turn to other N64 titles, now Rayman 2 shouldn't let me down.?

After all there's Perfect Dark.

Wow, you need to think, breath and chill before you post. I mean, you come across as a kidd with ADHD - wanting to kill just because you dislike some graphics.

Also, you're wrong!

I believe PS3 has better graphics...

But i think the guy was talking that snes games were more detailed than n64, not comparing 2d with 3d.
