Damn I wish some of those pictures were even higher resolution so I could use them as my wallpaper.

You forgot the sarcasm tags, acies. Being a fireman in LHC... He must be very well trained and decently paid.

How the hell do you even begin to design it!

Let alone build it

Is it wrong that that thing scares the bejeebus out of me?

Nope, and I become more concerned the more I hear about it.

Good look at it in the 'Big Bang Machine' on TV too. Think it was on Science or Discovery.

Yes.

If what it does would destroy the world (it won't), we should have been destroyed trillion of times over since the Earth formed.

i.e. It won't destroy the world, and if it could it would have already happened by now (LHC is still low powered compared to what the universe throws at us on a daily basis)

I think it's awesome...

I wonder if it really does have that potential to allow people to travel in time, or was that just some 'worse case scenario' nonsense :p

It's going to turn on and big, scary, Egyptian looking guys are going to come out. Where's Richard Dean Anderson when you need him?

In all seriousness, seeing stuff like this is so humbling. Just when maybe you think you're a fairly smart person, you see something like this and realize there are people who make you look like a 2 year old.
