More like "Can actually design and know what I am talking about troll" :)

I am happy for you bluerie. You know you are not the only one around here who can design. Just because you know something, it doesn't mean you can't help out others. It seems that people with less knowledge and skills are more willing to help out than you. Tutorials from the internet aren't the solution to everything. Asking questions on a board is also a good way to get help, if people are willing to post helpful answers.

So what if you can design and know what you're talking about. fact is, nobody cares unless you're willing to help out from time to time and not constantly put people down. seriosuly 95% of your posts are so utterly negative that its actually funny to read some of your stuff....but then, it gets old. you may be "50 super duper times" better than "everyone" at designing (insert lol) but at least people try and help out where they can. nearly all your posts here are negative and have virtually not good information in them, so why post? If you want to be an a$$ to people, at least help make a decent effort to help them out in the process...otherwise you're just wasting everyones time.

That proposterous, have you read all of my posts? it's an equal 50/50 just some people take it negatively. I go by the saying, ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer, and there has been a lot of stupid questions. There is people who truly need help and then there is people who are too lazy to look for the answer, It's not hard to tell them apart. Look at the posts where I do help, they truly need it and I help where I can. Most of the time though, people are just plain lazy and I have no pity or remorse for their made-up story. You don't get anywhere in art by asking others all the time. This is a 100% fact in the design industry. I'm not going to be nice to people that ask dumb questions that they could find out themselves in 5 minutes looking on google, or to those that need logos, avatars, sigs, color changes, custom graphics... all those can be done by themselves if they look it up an learn how to do it instead of someone else doing it for them. It's tough love. I never said I was the only one who can design, just one who actually can design well, there are many others like me on neowin.

So because I know something means I have to help people? Sorry, but it's not a rule which I have to abide by.

Bluerei

Cabletron2000 already said he wanted to CONCENTRATE on content himself and let someone else do the graphics for him

So instead of telling him to look up some tutorials, why dont u tell him WHERE or HOW to find a graphics guru

If u think u r really good, why dont u help him out

I dont do quality work for free, because if I do one, everyone else will ask for a freebie too. you can find a graphic guru by either a) pay up some dough or b) pay up some dough, because there are a rare few that will do a REALLY good logo for free. Since this is a non-profit website and if you dont care much, any average joe grafix will do it free for you for the experience, but without the look of professionalism. Enjoy.

i understand where you're coming from with the people asking silly questions, more thank likely telling them to google it is the best answer you can give anyway. im just sayin, ive seen in a lot of your posts you just puttin down the work and not offerin any advice. its just nice when experts can offer people specific advice.

Because most of the time, people dont look it up themselves before coming here, which is why they get my patented googlesearch? answer. And as for putting down peoples work, it's not really putting it down, it's telling them what is bad about their work, so they can improve and fix it. Telling them how good some of the parts are about it wont make them fix the bad parts about it. The badness will still exsist, which is why I tell them the bad parts and why it's bad so they'll fix it. Just some people like you who take it as an offense only see bad about my comments.

This part though you can take as a bad comment: learn to take it and quit crying.

In short, bluerei offers up some sharp constructive criticism. I definately don't agree with him half the time, but I do agree that sometimes people need to make an effort before expecting others to do the same. Now of course some people are just terrible when it comes to design and helping them out isn't necessarily a bad thing. Though I will say this, if you want someone to design a logo, or anything else for that matter, for you, pro bono or not, you need to explicit in detailing what you want. I for one have no problem doing small design work here and there, however most people who want the work done for free will ask for a design and then repeatedly critique it, saying, "well I would rather this be this way..." or "can you try this..."; it just doesn't work that way (see my previous comment about being concise with what you want).

Ok, I'm done with that little rant. Best of luck to cabletron. Maybe by experimenting with a design yourself you can have something to present to a designer, willing to do some pro bono work, so that he/she doesn't have to start from scratch.

He is getting closer to the truth about how the graphic industry really works, almost there... :) No one ever agrees on everything all the time, but like you said "people need to make an effort before expecting others to do the same." Even if you want a logo done, there is no pain in learning to do it yourself. That is how you become better at it. just like anything else in life. Its really easy to tell people apart from when they truly need help, and when it comes down to pure lazyness. Jester is starting to see that now, and hopefully, everyone else will too.
